Nah, it's time to take the corrupt sanctioning bodies to court. If Canelo wants to fight lame opponents that's his prerogative, but he shouldn't be allowed to do it whilst holding the hardware.

Sort of monumental “career announcement?”

Not for Canelo, but it is a big deal for Azteca TV. They probably negotiated this announcement as part of the deal. Canelo fights average more than 15 million viewers on AztecaTV. Compare that to 0.5 million viewers for the most recent fight on American TV for Teofimo. I can't recall when the last boxing match on American TV approached 3 million viewers. So this was a very important announcement for Azteca.

I agree, but if the system does not make it happen, then go to plan b. I am still firm that Canelo will fight Benavidez in September or he will be stripped.

I don't see much wrong with this, Canelo has earned the right to pick, and choose who he wants to fight. All this crying isn't going to change anything, between his purse, sponsors, PPV, he is clearing $40 million no matter who he fights.
