Teofimo had a chance in there to make it a fight if he knew how to cut off the ring, but he didn't. It's as simple as that. Lopez's own fans were booing him. It was a difficult fight to score because neither fighter scored a lot of punches, I thought Ortiz did enough. I am happy he lost tho.

Forget the fact that there's nothing in the rules of boxing that suggests that you're supposed to do a **** more than the champion to take the belt, that's one of the silliest myths in boxing. The sad reality is that nowadays to beat the A side you have to really do **** more, and even then if you leave it to the judges they'll rob your ass. But that's because boxing is a terribly corrupt business. It's disgraceful.
Agreed. Never been a fan of slick runners, but Ortiz was landing clean shots and Lopez simply had no clue what to do. People act as if there is a rule that a guy has to stand and trade. Boxing would be alot more fun if so. But Ortiz controlled the entire fight and Lopez looked awful. It was Lopez's job to cut off the ring and catch Ortiz.

I get the feeling that Matias would likely stop Lopez.

    • Teo and his father are two of boxing biggest clowns. You can tell that Teo was raised by a clown because he gets his ****** ignorant arse from the father. What a shame that he has a son who’s two mentors are classless idiots. Child services need to keep a close eye on the little man because being raised by two punks is a disaster waiting to happen. This is the reason kids grow up all F up. Somebody, please intervene and save the little man before he becomes a punk like the father and grandfather.

      • The patty cake style that so many (don’t want to say which group) love. If you come to a world championship fight and are taking on one of the (supposed) best in the world. You must put a great performance. All this running around it’s not it! Who is it that Oscar De La Hoy lost the fight with Trinidad for fighting this way for 3 rounds and with this runner they say it was a great performance? GTFOOH!

Yes, Teo could not cut of the ring effectively, but Ortiz is a spoiler, a negative boxer who will sink like stone after this fight. He stank out the joint. He did not come to win against the champ, he came to SURVIVE and you don't win a championship with survival tactics, it is the way of the COWARD which Ortiz is 100%. He spoke about beating Lopez? Really? With those scaredy tactics. Get a life. I had the fight razor close, at 115-113 for Teo and I guess I could live with a 114-114 majority draw but because Ortiz came to survive not win, I am leaning toward 115-113, Teo. The 117-111 score card was out of whack.
Agreed with everything you said, except that you thought the fight was close. If you can’t win a fight fighting the way Ortiz did then how can you give him so many rounds for fighting that way? In my opinion, Ortiz clearly won one round only. Every other round, he ran for his life, or did nothing. The 117–111 score was generous to Ortiz. Never want to see that guy in the ring again.

Teofimo is going to avoid the Haney match-up for as long as possible. That's why he's talking about Matias instead, who's the more favorable match-up. Martin/Ortiz may not have been able to get the decision, but the blueprint is there on how to frustrate Teofimo and make him look his worst.

You were the real winner last night !

Floyd was always great to watch he wasn't in a boring fight and he put hurt on a lot of guys
Like when he won the round by just throwing jabs ?
Those were hurtful , really ?
Listen , I ain’t comparing Floyd to anybody but you do get my point
There was times where Floyd was taking a round off , not getting hit and just pot shotting his opponent
My point is that was done in beauty and with purpose
Last night , Ortiz who is far from being any kind of Floyd , did something similar without the beauty of it and without hurting his opponent and without getting hit himself
Do I like it no , not at all
Was it boring , definitely boring
Did it show that Teo can’t cut the ring or hit someone on the move definitely

              • Dan Raphael scored it for Ortiz by a landslide “for imposing his style of fight”. Since when did not engaging and moving 100% of the time out of fear of getting clipped become a style that fighters choose to impose? I’m just about done reading or listening to what that biased dork has to say.

You won both times ! Whatever dreams you might have had were way better than the matches.

                    • I thought Ortiz outboxed Lopez. Simply because Lopez only knows one way to fight. He's a Kambosos type fighter. His lack of skills and creativity were shown.
What must have swayed the judges was that Ortiz's punches really weren't hurting Lopez much. Plus, runners don't get many votes sometimes. But Lopez did about nothing here.
