  • Comments Thread For: Kambosos: "As Much As They Wanna Say I Wasn't Undisputed, I Was Undisputed Champion Of The World"

Just about everyone was flummoxed when it came to the status of Teofimo Lopez. Although he had all of the belts at 135 pounds at one point, that green title he walked around with seemed a bit fraudulent.

George is right. E-mail champions do not count. End of thread.

No, you weren't. The WBC decides who the WBC titlist is and that's that. Whatever ****** criteria they use is their own business, as with the other alphabet soups.

The good news is it doesn't really matter. The real championship is the lineal/TBRB/Ring ****zine Championship.

Except he wasn’t. This is like the Pac 8 division champion argument. Perhaps you should’ve been, but you weren’t.

The WBC created this problem with the ridiculous "franchise" title. Is anyone considered a franchise champ now?

              There's a difference between a title and a championship.

The only real championships are the lineal, TBRB, and Ring ****zine championships. This is because these can only be won by a match up of the divisional top two fighters (if vacant) or by dethroning the reigning champion.

The WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO belts are world titles. They are won by following a specific path through a governing body's rules and contenders and often times the belts are contended in fights between two people not ranked in the top 10 of any independent rankings.

The fact of the matter is, no matter how ****** they are, the WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO are the only ones who get to name their respective titlists. Whatever ******, arbitrary decisions they make we all just have to live with, because those belts are awarded on an arbitrary basis in the first place.

Teofimo Lopez has never won a WBC world title. That is a fact.

But the WBC belt doesn't actually matter, nor do the WBA, IBF, or WBO. They are trinkets and symbols of corruption and everything wrong with boxing.

Lopez was the real champion because he was the lineal, TBRB, Ring ****zine Champion. That's all that matters. Haney was the WBC world titlist. That's not the same as being the champion of the world.

The WBC said that the Franchise title was the higher title. It was supposed to be their equivalent to a WBA Super champion. Haney was still a secondary titlist by their rules. Absurd to think that a mandatory who got his title by email was any kind of real champ when the real champ was Loma, then Teo, then Kambosos. Haney wasn't a real champ until he dethroned the man who beat the man who beat the man. Loma was the real champ. He won it in the ring and was lineal champ. And he fought the other real titlist in the division in a unification. That's better than fighting a mandatory any day. Only an idiot thinks that Haney was the real champ over Loma.

Too much emphasis on the Belt, its secondary and sometimes meaningless depending on who you beat, lots of guys win titles and lose them just as quick, great for telling the grd kids how they were world champions, truth is its not the champion of the world its you beat a guy that possibly could have been beat by a truckload of guys on that night, the merit is in the details not the holding of a belt, too much BS surrounds titles and championship as paper weights and not enough on the fighters on that night.

I can support this claim. Loma beat Campbell and won the wbc title, also held the WBA and WBO. Lopez won the IBF it’s just lil p****** didn’t like his bravado before losing to kambo . Lineage adds context
