He's not going to fight him this year. Both are with PBC so there is absoloutely no excuse now.

Benavidez has been his mandatory for at least two years. But Canelo only fights his mandatory if it's a boxer like Ryder or Yildirim.

This is the most blatant duck I've ever seen from a boxer on this level.

Only this last year did Benavidez establish a real fan mandate to fight Canelo. Prior to that David was sitting on his hands waiting for a hand out. If Canelo fights anyone else in May (he won't), then call him a duck.

He already made Forbes magazine, if he doesn't want to risk losing to Benavidez then it's time to retire.

He deserves severe opprobrium if he fights another Charlo and/or Crawford.

            Is Canelo afraid of Benavidez?

It’s not about fear it’s about narcissism, Canelo has seen the star power transfer over the last few generation, Oscar to Floyd, Floyd to him, etc and isn’t gonna let himself be used as such. Canelo knows perception is everything, him getting his clock cleaned doesn’t bode well for Canelo enterprises post his career ending. But the brutal truth is he doesn’t want anything to do with Benavides, he won’t even mention him, that’s how little he wants to get his shhh pushed in.

Nonsense, folks been asking for that fight since we were in lockdown two plus years ago. You can’t rewrite history, where do you think the “I don’t want to fight Mexicans” came from? Definitely no Mungia.

According to fans, Canelo has been ducking two dozen fighters from WW to HW over the last ten years. Many fans on here still go around saying that David Benavidez was the #1 SMW when Canelo moved up several years back. Not true. Callum Smith was the consensus and Ring #1 SMW. Had David kept his belt, Canelo would have already taken it from him. While Canelo proceeded to to clean out the SMW champions, David Benavidez was sitting on his ass, snorting ******* and complaining that nobody wanted to fight him. Meanwhile the biggest name on his record was Anthony Dirrell. Only in this last year did Benavidez finally get serious and earn his reputation by facing and beating other elite fighters. He's now undeniably the top contender at 168lbs so go ahead and call Canelo a duck if he doesn't fight him next.

The only name besides Benavidez I'd accept in May is David Morrell because he's got the longest outstanding mandatory claim (since January 2021). No Munguía, no Charlo, no Crawford. No Berlanga either. Just fight your fricking mandatories or vacate.

Truth is, Nell can fight benavides anytime before he retires. So there still 4 years to make the fight. Benavides will be better at 30
