It might work but i dont think Adding more divisions does anything for limiting the amount of weight bullies, having weigh-ins 6-12hours before the fights would mean guys don't have time to rehydrate 20+lbs heavier than during the fight. 6-12 hours should still give fighters enough time to lose/gain a few lbs but wouldn't let them rehydrate to somrtimes 2 weight classes heavier( e.g. Benavidez, haney when he was at 135, just off the top of my head.

You know the WBA would eventually come up with this cash grab at some point. This is the same organization that still has regular champions after they said they were forcing them to extinction and they still have regular champions parading around.
While I do see a use for a division where there aren't truly 210 pound contenders anymore, the organizations could expand other weight divisions to not create another division but there would be no money in that.

With the recent spate of premiere networks exiting boxing, these corrupt orgs should be working on how to dismantle themselves and rid this sport with their mess and corruption. Can't believe they're still behaving as if things are getting better.

How about this:
Bantamweight = 118
Middleweight = 160
Heavyweight = 161+
& that's all, folks -- three weight classes, no nonsense
Galaxy Bros., Carbajal, Jeff Chandler, Lupe Pintor, Roman Gonzalez = bantamweights
Mayweather, JC Chavez, Bernard Hopkins, Emile Griffith, Marvin Hagler, De La Hoya = middleweights
Joe Calzaghe, Andre Ward, Kovalev, Archie Moore, Virgil Hill, Rocky Marciano, Joe Louis, George Foreman = heavyweightsLast edited by trippleupper; 12-01-2023, 09:54 PM.Spray_resistant likes this.
