Just great. Every sanctioning body about to create another random division inside other divisions to feed their money-hungry ass pockets. WBA continues to show they're the cream of the crop when it comes to that nonsense. If they're gonna do that, might as well have all the other sanctioning bodies do the same. At least there will be some type of organization with this BS. No pun intended.

It's not only about the sanctioning fees. Weight bullies are the most prevalent at HW but the phrase gets thrown around in every other weight class. Wilder-Fury II was the only one-sided fight of the trilogy for a reason, which prompted the WBC to take action.

168-175, a 7lb difference, to 175-201, a 26lb difference is still too big a jump. The WBA should follow the WBC on this one at start it at 191. Cruiserweight has always been lackluster because the fighters are either too big for LHW or too small for HW. When all the sanctioning bodies recognize the new division, the talent pool will rise. They also need to rename LHW.

            Yes.

That worked excellently for most of boxing’s history.

Remove all these useless sanctioning bodies while we’re at it, and only have one world champion in each of those 8 divisions. The sport would be far better for it.

Yes. For a number of years it seemed that WBC had finally become the undisputed joke of boxing with their Bridgerweight class but good to see WBA is here to set the record straight.

Weight bullies only exist because there are way too many divisions.

Everyone will cut the same amount if there were limited divisions instead of bullying your way through multiple divisions.

Not only that but there are way too many multi division champs holding divisions up, too little talent in most divisions, pacquiaos 8 division champ is only 4 in olympic weight classes, floyd only 2 and with stacked divisions, ond is already impressive enough.

I bet those same WBA executives put water to their wine to get more wine on their tables.

Another shot in the foot for boxing.

Boxing needs streamlining, we need less weight divisions. Many divisions lacks talents and names. The small differences between many weight classes means it’s far too easy to jump between classes to swerve the best competition.

                      Finally, 201-224 lbs?
That means that Deontay Wilder, the boxer with the most defences of his heavyweight title of this generation, would have fought all of his successful defences of his heavyweight title, while at Super Cruiserweight, and Usyk, the unified and arguably best heavyweight boxer in the world right now would also be classed as a super cruiserweight.
Even Tyson Fury, before he got popped for PEDs used to fight at 240lbs~, with a fairly moderate weight cut Tyson Fury could have been fighting at Super Cruiserweight.

Rubbish addition to boxing, not for the good of boxing, just there for more sanctioning fees.

I’d like to see boxers drop the alphabet titles in the bin and just use the ring belt.
