The actual master in this category was Ricardo "Finito" Lopez.

Abraham, Spence etc have very elementary high guards. Just absorb and thus they either get beat up through the guard or have to step back or something. One of the best absorbing high guards I can remember recently is from little known Jose Velazquez.

Canelo has one of the most complete high guards today. He’s probably the simplest to study to try to get a high level high guard.
Never heard of Jose Velazquez, thank you I will check him out

Forgot about Felix Sturm, that high guard completely shut down Oscar de la Hoya

The key to the high guard imo is having a consistent jab.

David Benavidez uses it very well and counters from it well also. Suits him perfectly.

Today canelo and Benavidez have exceptional high guards though canelo does mix his up a bit when playing defense.

BITD my favorite high guards were Bazooka Quartey and Ricardo Lopez

Also Curtis Stevens had a very good catch and shoot from the high guard.
