Shakur Stevenson vs Edwin De Los Santos prediction

I don't think Shakur is a monster just a good technical, skilled southpaw albeit largely unproven and badly overhyped considering the level of opposition. More of an eye-test fighter at this stage.
He is more talented and fundamentally sound, experienced and his defense is a little tighter plus I like him stylistically.
I've seen him vs numerous southpaws with no issues, I've seen De Los Santos vs one and he hit the deck and was caught a lot in exchanges and think he has issues with pure boxers. He has skills but his power & combination punching, his offense masques some pretty bad defensive habits.
My gut instinct is De Los Santos might be a bit of a glass canon also, he can give it but can he take it? He was dropped hard by a fighter not really renowned for their power and has been hurt/buzzed often in his short career, I've also heard gym stories that he is chinny. Only gym stories but there is often a good element of truth behind them.
I really hope to be wrong and we get to see just how good Shakur is when he doesn't have it all his own way. I suppose its at least a step up I mean De Los Santos has power and will certainly try let his hands go which is more than I can say for most of Shakurs opposition at this stage.
Reyo has a reputation as a puncher so not sure what you are talking about plus it was a top of the head shot, not a heavy drop. Shakur does not have power so not sure you would be thinking that will be an issue for Santos. Can Shakur take a punch? Santos has more explosive speed than Shakur, plus of course power, he will be Shakurs toughest fight to date. Im picking Santos stoppage or at the very least a tough fight.Comment

Stevenson by UD. He’s going to make Edwin miss early and then turn up the heat late. No knockdowns or KO’s either way.Comment

I agree with this. If there's a KO it's going to be either Edwin's corner retirement or a combination of unanswered punches by Shakur forcing the ref to stop it.Comment

Very intriguing fight. I know it's useless to say it's 50/50 in a prediction thread, but I'd just say it's Shakur's first real step up fight, in my opinion. I never rated Valdez that high.
What I would really like to see is Navarette vs Stevenson.Comment

Did I cover it all or am I missing something?
JK, I had to do it.
I can't recall De Los Santos last couple of fights to be honest and I lived for a long part of my life in the Caribbean, Santiago DR.Last edited by eco1; 10-31-2023, 10:28 PM.Comment

Shakur by UD, in the end it will be an unexciting but relatively easy win that doesn't have any knock downs involved.
Frankly though, atleast he's willing to fight someone every so often unlike the other real beltless "superstar" at 135...or is Tank currently arrested or something again? I don't really keep track of his legal troubles.Comment
