  • Comments Thread For: Devin Haney Shreds Shakur Stevenson: "If He Really Thought I Was a B!tch He Would've Took The Fight"

The work he put in at 130 and 126 pounds made Shakur Stevenson believe that he did more than enough to earn a shot at Devin Haney's IBF, WBA, WBC, and WBO 135-pound titles. Although he was forced to play the waiting game a bit, the former Olympic silver medalist wiped the floor with Shuichiro Yoshino.

It was a bad look that a video of Bill Haney saying they would move up in weight to avoid Stevenson came out at the same time Haney moved up in weight but was apparently not doing it to avoid Stevenson. I don't want to rush to conclusions but a detective would probably connect those 2 dots...

Shakur could’ve taken the low ball offer. Instead he chose to enforce his mandatory status to get a better cut and Haney immediately ditched the division.

Well i still feel Shakur should of took the low percentage to beat Haney then he can make the real money everybody's impressed by Shakur's skills but nobody is impressed with his resume if he beat Haney he would shut all that noise up surely that's worth any price.

He was offered LESS than the mandatory split? Mandatory split is always low, how you gonna offer someone lower than that?

We have to apply the same standards of ducking to everyone. I really don’t like Haney, i’m hoping Prograis can make him dance around the ring with chicken legs and stop him. But Shakur Stevenson didn’t call Haney’s bluff, plain and simple. Should’ve accepted the 25%. I see people saying Haney isn’t a big draw…that’s true..:neither is Shakur. And Haney is the one with the 4 belts. That trumps him over Shakur in negotiations.

I like Shakur Stevenson and find his fights fun to watch unlike Haney fights. But it is painfully obvious that Shakur should’ve accepted the terms…at the very least to call Haney’s bluff. If Haney backed out of that, then there you go, that would’ve been a duck.

But Shakur didn’t do that, now he will have to suck it up and keep busy with some journeymen like Demetrius Andrade did when he complained about big money fighters not wanting him but at the same time he was turning down other top fighters who wanted to fight him.

Yup…I love Shakur as a fighter, I hate Haney as a fighter, but you have to call it like it is. Call a spade a spade. It is what it is. Missed opportunity for Demetrius Andrade Shakur. This is strike one on Shakur. He keeps up all this money talk with his pretty barren resume, it will stay mediocre into his mid 30s.

75/25 was Bill's way of ducking without officially ducking. He's done anice job keeping Jr. safe so far.
