No HBO killed their own business by trying to be the boxing home of east Europe. Paramount killed Showtime because they want to be more like Hbo and Netflix and less like Espn.

HBO only did that because America's scene was crap post-Mayweather

The demise isn't about fighters.

They stopped showcasing ring girls and shamed them left and right.

They refused to embrace regular television broadcasts.

They saw DAZN show up and HBO got spooked (and didn't need to be).

Rick Glaser says if Amazon picks up boxing they will only do pay-per-view. That will not help the sport in any way at all. It is not a problem to get a pay-per-view distributor boxing needs a home like HBO and Showtime were so you can have showcase flights. This sport is in very very serious trouble. How many networks has TR been with over the last 60 years? The same CBS, Showtime, NBC............networks you named are the same ones TR and GB were with. So dumb!!!

People watched other channels that showed boxing more than SHO recently. People think that ESPN fights and fights on DAZN are being watched more than SHO fights. The PBCs non competitive matches are why they don’t want anything to do with boxing anymore. They got sick of paying Haymon fighters who weren’t making super fights. I don’t care for PBC anymore than I care for Top Rank but there are tons of meaningless garbage fights Arum made specifically to keep money IN HOUSE.
Arum was also behind the Floyd-Cotto fight not happening in 2005.
Lastly, Oscar, Floyd, Cotto, Bud, Mikey Garcia etc ALL left Top Rank unhappy with the deals they were getting. In fact, Manny tried to leave for Golden Boy but stayed put after being threatened with a lawsuit.

The difference between Top Rank and PBC is that PBC pays way more than Top Rank.
