You write things in a way to not make it seem as overzealous as other fans but you definitely were under the belief that he could go up and defeat these bigger, better fighters. You could say that Bivol was dangerous as a way to play both sides of the fence in case he did end up losing, but you thought Canelo was Superman before that fight and I'm obviously not the only one who saw that.

You can’t paint me as an overzealous fan because I’m not.

I happen to think very highly of Canelo and of course was rooting for him. But I know boxing. To expect him to be as dominant at 175 lbs was not realistic.
That’s why I always maintained that Bivol was a dangerous fight.

Your joking ain't you? Why not rematch biggest rivals who arguably have greater resume than yiurself? And when all is said and done, have a good chance to be considered greater when the history books are written, whose fans 100% believe theyd win any rematch and triologies.. Nobodies asking him to rematch baldomirs or Gattis or the bertos of this world. And first win was cos you had advantages or was controversial in some way?
Only someone real bias would say there was no controversy or advantages on floyds side. If you are one of those, this conversation need go no further it's not for you.Last edited by hugh grant; 09-17-2023, 04:04 PM.Comment

So who do think he should have rematch? Pacquio? He won the fight with no controversy, canelo? He didn't win a round, dlh? He was on his last leg and the golden boy never ask for one. Who else? Gatti, Corrales? Advantages, yes, controversy, castillo and maidana, and he ran those fight back. The ginger has Advantages in all his fights, and never gave Lara nor trout a rematch, and he definitely lost to Lara. A least fraud wasn't afraid to rematch his two most controversial opponents.

154? You most be crazy. Ask ginger to move down to 154. When he created the 155 division he used to weight 171 to 177 0n fight night. He was never a natural 154 pounder.Comment

He belonged with kovalev, but not with bivol? You're a very selective guy when it comes to ginger. The only thing that changed wasn't the weight, it was the boxer, hence the a$$ whoopingHe moved up to a weight class where he doesn’t belong and lost while daring to be great.
Nothing wrong with that. Just get back up, learn from the lesson, make improvements, and keep going.
All the people that claim being undefeated shouldn’t matter are being hypocrites if they are crapping on Canelo for this loss.Comment

Yes, it was appearance, they watched his previous two fights and they thought he was ready for the picking. They didn't do a proper scouting, bivol fights a the level of competition, everytime he stepped in class, he put a master class. After kovalev they believed in their hype, they forgot that a few weeks before the fight, he was in a grueling fight with yarde, they knew another camp so soon was on their advantage and on top of that he was a drunken and had some legal issues, they forgot it was a cherry picking.Comment

If you believe canelo is a natural 154, you really most be out of your mind. Not even when he was 23 yo and campaigning in his own 155lbs division, he used to weight over 171 pounds at fight night, back then he was a natural SMW, now he is a LHW.Comment

Your responding whilst going off on a tangent and not addressing my points.

Its not just if a fight is close you rematch. Nel o don't need to rematch Lara as Nell isn't worried Lara will be deemed greater if he doesn't have a totally convincing win over lara.
Whereas Floyd's win over Nell isn't in the big scheme of going to mean much if people think Nell was more off his best than floyd was, with CW and people thinking prime Nell beats floyd. Floyd used controversial IV, pac had bad shoulder not to mention there are many who think pac best floyd.
Floyd would've got rematch if he lost.
Many think Nell and pac are greater than floyd as they don't put much in Floyd's win over them. All histories greats have 2 or 3 wins n some cases over biggest rivals why can't floyd? If SRR can beat lamotta 4 times, and pac can best bradley and jmm 3 times if not robbery or scorecard errors why can't floyd? I mean it's not as if Floyd's fighting abroad, or fighting toughest available opponents in spence, thurman, brook, bud, and bradley is it?So why not rematch?
