You must of heard of the term bellow the belt ? The blow was clearly on it , which makes it legal , the referee got it wrong clearly wrong . There has been many times a referee has taken a point for a blatant low blow there and then, granted it is normally for more than one but point being he then started rushing Usyk before his five minutes recuperation time had ended which didn’t go hand in hand of how Uysk
folded like a deck of cards in apparent agony… very strange!

In the ring last night before every fight, all the refs put their hand ON TOP OF THE TRUNKS and said "this is good " meaning BELOW the trunk top was BAD. All the boxers had their trunks below their navel except for one guy who the ref said " your trunks are high so this (the TOP FEW INCHES OF THE TRUNKS) is good".

Usyk's trunks were BELOW HIS NAVEL, therefore a punch on the belt BY DEFINITION was low. End of story.

The ref properly did not deduct a point because he had previously not warned Dubois about low blows. And Usyk like all boxers are entitled to 5 full minutes of rest after a low blow.

Not deducting a point, doesn't show he got it wrong. He doesn't have to deduct a point. You only deduct a point if it's a repeated infringement and you have given the fighter prior warnings. When do you ever see a point deduction on a first infringement? You don't. Because accidents happen. Because wether it was low or not, nobody is accusing Dubois of doing it deliberately. So in the referees mind, it's a legitimate low blow, but no need to penalize Dubois for an accidental first offence.

He was warned for low blows in the third. But still, was ruled as accidental so no need to take a point.

Usyk got hurt, it was close, below the top of the waistline. In a pure, heat of the moment from where the ref stood, it was called low. Like a few posters sid, Dubois was warned so the naturally thought was to call it low.

Dubois had him hurt. Did not do much to press the issue from that point on and when he did Usyk answered. Got laid out by a guy who is not known for KO power. There is not reason to turn this to a no contest. IF it had went to the cards and been close, I could see it. But when you are over powered, out boxed, and generally leveled to rubble there is not a controversy here. It is on you for losing, not the ref for one split second decision that may have been wrong.

It looked low to the referee at the time. It looks low to me now after seeing it many times from various angles and different speeds.

Most importantly though the ref called it straight away and Usyk acted accordingly. Usyk made zero effort to suck it up and rise from the canvas, if he could have, this is something only Usyk knows and maybe not even him.

If any good comes out of this; Then it's that Usyk's weakness has been exposed. He is very tender to the body and doesn't like to get hit there. So from here on out; Expect the balance of his opponents to target his body relentlessly.

...and they will get countered relentlessly. Usyk has ABSOLUTELY been attacked to his body before. His cardio, even in the CW division, has always been one of his core strengths. Attacking the body is how you wear down a high energy fighter. Watch the replays from the CW tournament Usyk won to unify the titles. They tried. He is slick defensively and protects himself. Chisora went after his body relentlessly and lost almost every round even as he effectively stopped Usyk from a ton of the things he prefers to do because Usyk adjusted and connected with solid counters.

The secret to beating Usyk is not a secret at HW- Hit him flush. He is not going to be able to withstand any HW hitting him flush repeatedly. He is not a natural 240-250 pound warrior. Even the biggest Usyk fan like me know that. Dubois got him. it was not a dirty shot, even if it is not legal. Usyk recovers well, defends well, and punches in bunches. But he has very little room for error at this level. The good I see out of this is Usyk and his team have been reminded of this and will work even harder going forward.

Imteresting. If that's the criteria then there's no way that was a low blow. Even if they win the appeal, the damage might already be done.

And even if its a "no contest" that means Usyk keeps the belts. Usyk was knocked out which would mean he should have lost all 3 belts.
