Anything can happen in boxing. I don't have to predict who wins this fight, but I'm certainly not rooting for fighters who have history of choosing to be inactive.
All I can say is that it's a very strong possibility that he could and wouldn't be in the least bit surprised about it if he did because Charlo could fight. Moreover, If Canelo doesn't knock Charlo out, the fight lasts the distance and then goes to the scorecards. Then it can become anyone's guess.
Remember, that Canelo has been the recipient of many dubious and controversial decision wins in his career. In which most cases; Boxing fans thought he lost.
He got only a majority decision lost to Money Mayweather when most boxing fans thought that the decision should have been unanimous.
In addition, he had two controversial decision wins against both Erislandy Lara and Gennady Golovkin; In which likewise, most boxing fans thought he had lost them too.
Charlo needs to get his cardio up to last the full 12 rounds while having enough power to earn Canelo's respect. If Canelo doesn't respect you, he'll pounce on you.
canelo from 2 years ago would have ran through and stopped ryder in like 6 rounds. canelo slipped a lot. It wasnt just the bivol fight, its 3 fights in a row now he has looked chit. he looked chit with GGG.
His team knows this. They think Charlo is easy pickings while still having a "name". There is a reason they ducked benavidez and the thing was benavidez didnt look great against Plant either but I dont believe they are confident of a win there even though benavidez isnt the killer he was built up to be.
Ill have to watch some clips of charlo, mayhbe even his last fight and the ryder and ggg fights again to make a prediction. I wouldnt be shocked right now though if canelo loses.
If Charlo catches him with his counter uppercut it’s lights out. I think Charlo can actually KO him. And could be a tad slower coming up in weight but possibly more power.

They said they weren't planning to really put on the weight. They're just not going to cut as much, so he can fight as normal. I think that's smart, personally. My main concern is that he's got a ton of bad habits defensively. Keeps his head in the same line when he attacks mostly, falls off balance when he misses a right regularly, and keeps his hands low. He actually recoils low regularly, especially when he's throwing combinations, and often has his right below even chest level. He relies on pushing his opponents back and overwhelming them, which I really doubt he'll be able to do against Canelo. Those things are just asking to get cracked by a left hook. He's going to get his chin tested for sure in this fight.
