I'm not giving any flak until after the PBC deal is over. If that ends up being Charlo/Charlo/winner of Spence/Crawford 2, I'm absolutely going to criticize. But he's still got room to fight Benavidez and Morrell in there. Problem there is that Morrell is the next mandatory up, and then it's supposed to be the IBF, which I think is either William Scull or Shishkin. I don't know why Benavidez didn't petition the IBF to make his fight with Plant, their former champ, a title eliminator. It's like he doesn't actually want the fight.

It is in vogue for fans on this board to chastise Canelo over not facing Benavidez. Did Benavidez start at 154? How many belts has Benevidez won and somehow lost at 168? Having won at 168 and having failed to make weight, WHEN will Benevidez underline that monster tag he waves around like a flag, and show the same nut Canelo and Mayweather have?

Why no clamor for Artur Beterbiev, somebody who has without a doubt proven to be a monster? Have fans become so enamoured with Benavidez schtick on call-out that they miss the point on what appears to be years-long and seemingly endless ************ at 168? Its great to pull the wool over the eyes of those that only see what they are told to see, or what directly lies in front. But some awareness and objectivity would seem to be of value here. I too am disappointed that Canelo hasn't faced Benavidez. It's a compelling matchup. Many think Benavidez would tromp the high-mileage red head. But given the continuous overlook from the cash cow, why hasn't Benavidez blazed his own trail and moved-up to face an equalling threatening undefeated monster in Beterbiev? Just crickets chirping and more ************ from a weight bully. it would seem.

Then next time Canelo haters wish to extoll the vast threat and magnitude of the challenge Benavidez brings, in their haste to further denigrate Alvarez, maybe ask yourself just why King David hasn't ever tried and stepped to it with another monster.

Like Mayweather already admitted, he's Al Haymon's alter ego.
This is his own investment, therefore he's the brain of all these Canelo fights.
He has to defend his investment. He's also the one who blocked the Bud/Spence negotiations.

I disapproved of his gaming the A side of things earlier in his career like his ridiculous 155 middleweight stint and he's clearly been on the favourable side of some controversial decisions.

That said, he's challenged himself more than most, moved up a lot in weight, it's not like the tiny weight classes with like 3lbs between them. Was it 150 for Mayweather? All the way up to 175. It's a very solid list of names on his record and he kept chasing greatness by moving up until he found his ceiling. I've got nothing but respect for that. You don't know how great a fighter is until they lose. Hopefully we continue to see him in with the best fighters from 160-168 and possibly 75. I don't mind a few softer fights in-between though.

for boxing purists. not ppl who worship a management company/promotional company etc. I have never seen ppl more excited for someone to shut up and retire, more than ppl were and are for Mayweather Jr. his legacy is always proceeded with the words 'carefully navigated' when talking about him. so anyone else who cherry picks etc, he loves to stick up for them.

Floyd is hands down the greatest fighter ever. No one with a brain think he cherry picked.
