What's crazy is Floyd's still capable of dominating right now, check out some of his latest gym footage, his hand speed is still elite and faster than Bud (if you can believe it)
Bud vs Floyd at 154 right now might set a new boxing ppv recordComment

This is true. Skillwise floyd is really great but he didn’t fight them during their peaks. He has no crawford or spence level prime wins at welter. Cotto in 2007 and pacquiao in 2009 would have been an atg win against a prime fighter. And that's the problem with not ever fighting an elite fighter in their prime. We have no idea how Floyd would look against someone like a Crawford. Floyd's largely a mystery at that scale. It's a tough fight but I say Crawford because he's proven himself now against an elite prime fighter.Comment

As fast as Crawford looks, Floyd is faster. His foot and hand speed was evident in the Pacquiao fight. Ring IQs are close. I never thought I'd say that.
I think Floyd has better defense and reflexes. Bud's power though...that's the ultimate x factor.Comment

Except none of the fighters you mentioned were elite or in their prime when Mayweather fought them. The fact that Mayweather had so much trouble with fighters like Maidana or a nearly retired Dela Hoya is a poor reflection on Mayweather. So I'm not sure how that data is then used to say that he'd school an elite prime Crawford. There were two things that gave floyd his hardest fights and one that gave him his easiest fights.
He lost most rounds to applied pressure from JLC and maidana.
He lost the next most rounds to jabs from DLH, Zab and Cotto.
He had the easiest fights with Canelo and Marquez who tried to box and counter with him.
If crawford tries to box and counter floyd he will get taken to school. If he can work the jab well then that could win him some rounds. End of the day I pick floyd comfortably.
That being said I do think it's a tough fight, but I'd go with Crawford just because I think he's more proven at the elite level. Honestly if Dela Hoya was even two years younger, I could see a draw or Mayweather losing to him. That tells me Mayweather probably not going to dominate at that level like many assume he would without evidence.Comment
