I say fuck it. Let them fight. I thought Morrell needed more seasoning but if Benavidez is willing to risk his mandatory status against an unknown then so be it. It's a good fight for us boxing fans anyhow.

You gotta love Morrell's attitude and the trajectory of his career thus far. He wants the big names now not later. He's ready to rumble with anyone and the guy is exciting as well. I say get the Cuban in there with Benavidez or at least Plant next. If he does the job on Plant the fight against Benavidez would have more precedent. The average Cuban is fighting for survival on a regular basis so once they make it off the island, fighting in the ring for good money is usually no problem.

Of course Morrell wants the big names because it means big money. But with only nine pro fights, why should he get to leapfrog people who have been scraping and clawing their way up the ladder for a big fight?

Same reason every good fighter that loses gets black-balled in their in their division. The loss gives opps an excuse to not fight them

That was not my point. Rather people wanted it or not is irrelevant to my post. The guy said Canelo was cherrypicking easy money fights. He moved up to 175 & fought one of the top guys & lost convincingly. Wanting a rematch with Bivol at 175 I wouldn’t say is a cherrypick easy fight. That was my point…

Please elaborate on the leapfrog and the ones "scraping and clawing their way". Please mention one of two of them, especially if they're better than Morrell Jr.
