Pacquiao Could Retire Without Mayweather, Says Roach

This seems like blatant ducking. Mayweather was #1, and Pac only got to that slot by FMJ retiring. May comes back, and many people have restored Floyd to the #1 spot.
To prove he is #1, Pacquiao would have to beat Mayweather. Wins over Diaz/Delahoya/Hatton are not ATG-ish. And Roach himself has said that Cotto is weathered.I was expecting this from Freddie. Not surprised at all. After all, he and Arum predicted (hoped?)the May-Marquez fight would bomb big time.
That may be true. But I have a feeling there's much more to the negotiations than we're being led to believe. Like more hurdles to jump. This was nothing but negotation talk by Roach. Its nothing different than what Floyd says. Both are just trying to act like they dont need eachother because they want the upper hand on the money. Floyd actually means it though and thats why the Oscar rematch didnt happened. We'll see if Pac means itComment

All you have to do is go look at the stats on boxrec. I don't have to do your homework for you. The stats are there. You go find me a site that records "unofficial weights" on fight night.....lol....Fact of the matter is he has made a history of fighting SMALLER fighters. Official weights are what's recorded along with the height and reach of the fighters. Fact is Floyd has been real ***** LIKE since he jumped to 140. He has yet to fight ANYONE remotely threatening that 0. His excuse for not fighting Shane is nowhere near legit. I hope Cotto wins and faces Margarito which leaves him no viable option besides someone who own size. Unless Juan Diaz calls him out. Oh yeah, come to think about it, he STILL has unfinished business with Casamayor. Yeah. He does have a few options at Lightweight still....lolLast edited by BoxingScribe; 09-28-2009, 09:23 PM.Comment

Hey Webb, off-topic question, but do preachers get paid?
And do you know of any football players who were talented but was scared to get hit?
IE, Someone who had a habit of steppin' out of bounds too early.Comment

The cruel harsh reality for Mayweather is MANNY DOESN'T NEED HIM. When Mayweather retired, his fans were impressed with his record but I don't even think THEY were impressed with his resume. If Manny retires, his resume shyts on Floyds. Nobody would be stressed out because he didnt fight Fraud. Floyd needs to man up, stop stealing money by facing fighters NO ONE expects to beat him and face Shane. PERIOD!!!Comment

All the Mayweather bull**** aside, I take it what Roach is saying is we'll beat up on past-prime fighters, but we won't let Pacquiao give a shot to any up and coming fighters that are trying to make a name for themselves. As much as I don't care for Barrera (he was a dirty fighter and a sore loser) he gave Pacquiao his shot when nobody knew who he was over here. You don't see Pacquiao returning the favor when it comes to fighting guys that appear to be the future of the lower weight divisions like Soto, Bradley, and Alexander. I would favor Manny over those guys, but I think they would be damn good fights.Comment

I have a list of guys he skipped over and I wanted him to fight, but he was killing it with $$$ with the Mexicans.
I don't condone it, but I am not him.Comment

And who did Mayweather give a chance to? Bruseles? Corley? Mitchell? Judah? I mean dude come on. That makes absolutely no sense. Before Floyd retired was Manny even being considered as an opponent for Floyd? In fact, Floyd once said when it was brought up that Manny was a "good little fighter but he is too small to face me". Now all of a sudden he isnt? All the Mayweather bull**** aside, I take it what Roach is saying is we'll beat up on past-prime fighters, but we won't let Pacquiao give a shot to any up and coming fighters that are trying to make a name for themselves.
