I don’t understand the term “weight bully”.

Seeing it get thrown around a lot at the moment. Devin Haney is being used as an example regularly.

What I don’t understand though is Devin Haney has never missed weight. So what’s the issue? Cause he’s naturally a big guy for the weight?

Does that mean Tommy Hearns was a “weight bully”?

I just don’t understand the logic behind that terminology whatsoever.

    Yup agree 100%.

If anything the weight bully term should be used for the "A-side" fighters that drain their opponents down to catchweights. You know, the Gervonta's, Pacquiao's and Mayweather's of the world.

It's an excuse that cowards and their fans use when they lose.

If you step into the ring you live with the results forever. Period. If there's something preventing you from being your best, either don't fight or shut up and deal with it. I don't care about "weight bullying", I don't care about catchweights or rehydration clauses, I don't care about preexisting injuries or illnesses, I don't care about whatever is going on in your personal life, I don't care if it's your first fight with your new trainer, I don't care if you took the fight on short notice, I don't care if your opponent got to select the location or choose the type of gloves or the size of ring they wanted. The only valid complaints are if you get screwed over by the ref/judges/commission.

Bill Haney confirms he hydrates 20-24 lbs fight night. He's never fought anyone bigger than him or bigger. Hearns at least moved up a ton of weight classes and regularly bigger than him.

So you're comparing Hearns, who weighed in the same day of a fight, to a guy who has 24 hours or more to rehydrated? lmao Are you really asking this? Okay guy

Hearns is 6-2 and competed in the cruiserweight division. He was clearly bigger than Haney. Then and now. Laughing about Hearns in this discussion is sheer ignorance.

Hearns fought at 140 in the amateurs and turned pro at 147. At 6'1", he looked like Manute Bol in the amateurs (1975).

Everything was skinny on Tommy. Look at his fucking legs man lol!

You're comparing a guy who moved up in weight to compete against guys much bigger than himself to someone who shrinks himself down to fight at a lower weight? If you had half a brain, maybe you could keep up with me. Hearns moved up in weight throughout his career. When he was fighting at Cruiserweight, it was due to his being old and unable to make weight anymore. This guy was nearly 40. I think he was still fighting when he was 46. He was clearly smaller than those he fought with. Plus he was fighting club fighters at that time. Honestly, how can you compare a guy who's moved up in weight to compete against bigger guys to a guy who shrinks himself down?
