He fought fielding, when covid shut down fights for may of 2020, canelo was only negotiating with Saunders and smith, never Benavidez. But the second Benavidez got stripped later that year, Canelo petitioned for his wbc title just 3 days later. Coincidence? When canelo was at 160, he never expressed any desire to be undisputed. There was a black mandatory in charlo at the time and another black world champion with the 1 title he needed in Andrade. You think it’s another coincidence that he then decided 168 was the best way to go where there were 2 white British champs, another white boxer in plant and a low level euro mandatory in Yidilgrim ? one thing you need to understand is that Canelo has the ability to make fights others can’t. So you can’t compare their scenarios if they can make fights as easily as Canelo can. Benavidez has been trying to make meaningful fights for years and they turn their backs. Canelo can fight whoever he wants and what he wants is to do is fight primarily Brits. Benavidez wanted to fight not just Canelo, but Charlo, called out plant way before Canelo fought him and nobody wanted the smoke. The time for Canelo to fight Charlo and Andrade was when they were all at mw and canelo chose otherwise. Which leads to my original comment, I am criticizing Charlo (and hold Andrade in the same regard) for not being active, looking unimpressive, and nobody really wants to see them fight Canelo anymore. The time has passed. Which is why this entire statement by Reynoso is lame. It’s not an important fight, it was a couple of yrs ago and Canelo chose not to make it then. The only fight for Canelo should be Benavidez. Nobody cares about Ryder and he doesn’t deserve a rematch with bivol.

Even if it can be made after the Ryder fight, which is set on May 6th, that is still one month from now. Then Canelo had to take time off after the fight, nurse injuries, spend time with family, which would take at least 3 months minimum. That's already four months of waiting for Charlo. That reeks of desperation. It's as if Canelo is the only fight available for him on this planet.
