You obviously don't have a clue what a lineal champion is. It has nothing to do with belts. The alphabet belts are meaningless nowadays, other than in terms of getting publicity. Many lineal champions have had no belts at all when they were champion, for instance, Hatton, Barrera, Hamed.

To be the lineal champ you have to beat the man who beat the man - that's why it's called lineal. And if the lineal title becomes vacant, a new lineal champ is crowned when the #1 and #2 contenders fight each other.

At the moment the lineal Welterweight title is vacant, and the #1 and #2 contenders are Mosley and Mayweather, respectively. If Mayweather wants to be the champion and regain the lineal title he vacated when he "retired", he has to beat Mosley. That's all there is to it.

Boxing is both a sport and a business. But the business relies on the credibility of the sport. If boxing the sport loses its credibility, boxing the business will die. It used to be a mainstream sport, now it's a niche sport, and a lot of the reason for that is because there are too many people who forget that it's a sport.

If all you care about is the business and if you have no interest in the sport of boxing, fine, enjoy your accountancy, but DON'T insult our intelligence by pretending you're a boxing fan when you're only an accountancy fan.

wow, are you serious??? tell me...what does mosley bring to the table that pac and cotto don't? why should pbf jump in the ring with floyd and fight shane when he has two potential bigger money fight ahead of him in pac or cotto. pbf does not have to fight shane mosley when fight cotto(the same man who outboxed shane) or pac.

Way to respond to that 'wanna be' boxing expert. He thinks his sh** don't stink but you better watch out; when you present facts to "DAVE RADO" he likes to give red 'K'

He is the #1 ranked Welterweight in the world. There is nothing more important than that. In any sport you have to beat the best to be considered the best. Mosley is the best and will remain the best unless Mayweather has the guts to test himself against him. And in order to regain the lineal Welterweight crown, he has to beat Mosley. Nothing matters more than that to anyone who cares a monkey's about the sport of boxing.

Why would Floyd want to fight and undefeated Shane Mosley in his 20s, but be afraid of a 38 year-old Shane with 5 losses?
that was 10 years ago. past is past, you cant live your life in the past. forget the past, face the present. prepare for future. now ask this question to yourself.. if GAYweather can fight mosley, (who is in his late 20s) 10 years ago, why cant he fight mosley now whos already 38 yrs old? a fight most people wants to happen.

But Mayweather looks like he is going to be doing the same thing with no successful result if he ignores Mosley's challenge. Cotto and Pacquiao are made men where fan base is concerned and they will go after a less dangerous fighter than Floyd. Both Shane and Floyd should be held to the same standard where chasing brand name fighters is concerned. And I also thought it was bull**** that Mosley tried to get a fight with Zab Judah. I didn't like that at all. See, unlike Floyd fans I can point out other things that fighters besides Mayweather do.
DLH, Hatton and JMM made their biggest payday fighting FMJ. So what makes you think the winner of PAC and Cotto won't want the biggest payday? After Floyd beats the winner of PAC/Cotto; I'm pretty sure Mosley will be next in line because who else is FMJ going to fight? But saying he needs to fight Mosley next or now is ridiculous. Mosley needs to find another dance partner for Jan. 30th. Mosley is the odd man out. HBO showed that when he keeps getting bumped from his so-called fight dates. They showed it when they are willing to put up $20mil for a returning fighter than putting up $10mil for 'Shame' to fight anybody. The only people who take "Shame" Mosley serious are the fans who think he can beat Floyd.

Shane is ranked higher than Cotto by pretty well every serious boxing expert and by every single independent ranking body, including The Ring and boxrec. Age is irrelevant. Are you saying that no heavyweight needs to beat Vitali Klitschko because he's 38? To be considered the best you have to beat the best, regardless of their age. The only people who are pretending Shane is too old are Mayweather fans. Nobody else.

And lol at the same people justifying Mayweather fighting Boldomir for the lineal title, and then justifying Mayweather ducking a fight for the lineal title against Mosley, when Mosley would beat Boldomir with one hand tied behind his back. The hypocrisy is incredible.
