I believe this is where he will be tested and may lose when he faces someone who he needs to be honest against.
This, exactly this. You could take it either way. I think it's the second option. as he has demonstrated a lack of defense in previous fights.

I like him, and for some reason find myself rooting for him, because I watched his dad as a teenager and it brings back the good times. Also, it's nice to see a championship boxer's son do well, as they seem to be underwhelming in general.

I'm no boxing coach, but he could jab more and not stand in front so much without throwing. I see he's looking for shots, and maybe some of that was a conscious decision last night, but that technique won't always work.

I love how Charlo's downplayed response. When asked something like, "What did you see from Tim tonight?" He says, "I mean, he does what he was supposed to do." Maybe he wasn't stunning, but he looked better than last fight, confident, and able to fight at that pace forever.

I don't know what you are talking about because I was not one of those people who was predicting a Tony Harrison victory. The ones who were I thought were crazy.

I predicted a knockout stoppage by Tim Tszyu because Tony Harrison is a shot fighter now.

He has not looked like the same fighter since that Jermell Charlo rematch. If you don't believe me then just research and look up all my posts about the build up to that fight. It's all there.

Harrison was basically a one-handed fighter for the entire fight, yet it took 9 rounds for Tim to actually do something significant and he was wide open for the right all night - something Charlo can easily expose. Harrison was able to connect with his right (the few times he actually threw it) but his lack of power made a difference in those moments.

I hope Tim's comment about "beating the man who beat the man" was just self-motivation - if he truly believes that was the same version of the man who beat the man, he's in for a very rude awakening. It can also be argued that Charlo wasn't at his best the night that Harrison beat him based on the rematch where Charlo completely dominated and knocked out a better version of Harrison than the one-handed fighter that 'jabbed' (not fought - he just jabbed all night) this time.
IMO, Castaño vs Tim would be more evenly matched [than Tim vs Jermell] but I'd slightly favor Castaño to win based on what I've seen from both fighters.
It's possible that Harrison was off, or maybe he was afraid of the power after feeling it early. Or both.

I do think Charlo will capitalize on Tim's defensive holes, but I haven't seen enough of Charlo fighting. (When was the last time he fought anyway, like years ago? Maybe he has been PPV the whole time and thats why I dont remember.)

Why would he need to use the jab that much when the other guy was throwing nothing but jabs and Tim's strategy was to time it by going over and under it which was pretty successful by the way. He adapted to the fighter in front of him and did exactly what he needed to do.

And apparently Jermell Charlo, who to my knowledge has never been down or hurt as a pro, can't take a punch...

                • I thought Tszyu was impressive considering the expectations going into the fight. A lot of people thought he would need home cooking even against a past-prime Tony. Whereas now I think we can at least say that Tszyu fights with too much intensity for a past prime boxer-mover to withstand. You need power to stop him unloading on you all night, and you need stamina. Up to a certain level, he can face faster, more skilled fighters and grind them down.

But Charlo is just a different style, even with another couple of learning fights I'm not sure that Tszyu can win because they are both going to be aggressive and Charlo has more power and a better chin. Tszyu also looks easier to hit.

                  • Great win for Tszyu! Fighting with a chip on his shoulder, trying to get out of his old man's shadow. Wicked to watch, brings it all night long. Bring on Charlo, be interesting to see how he holds up to his power. Tony got walked down easy as f, he was great down here though, sold plenty of tickets and hyped it up, salute.

                    • Tim beat the man,who beat the man, who then got ko'd by the man. WTF! lol
Seriously, Tim handled his step up in class with no problem.
And Atlas was right, the ref was slow to stop the fight and a defenseless Tony took way too many head shots.
