Marquez demanded a rehydration clause against Bradley - no one batted an eye. Canelo regularly demands rehydration clauses, and got one against Jacobs and Kovalev.
I don't think I saw a single thread about the Marquez one and almost nothing about Canelo.... but when it's Davis asking for one, the subject is completely dominating all boxing discussion online.
Why is that? Because they're desperate for Davis to lose.
Canelo gets criticised a lot for it, as he should.
Requesting a rehydration clause does nothing but cussed a detriment to your opponent. It’s a weak move to do and request off your own back.

How can it have been made more safe, when Weight draining tactics have intensified within this modern era? You can go and research yourself and watch documentaries of fighters weight draining themselves and breaking down in the process.
'Show me those same type of documentaries or evidence that fighters from past eras under the same day weigh in rule were behaving in this manner'. There is no footage out there, because as I have stated the Toxic Weight draining culture is a modern phenomenon.
Fighters under the same day weigh in rule, during past era's were not systemically weight draining themselves intensely.
I don't understand your reasoning, unfortunately I think you have also accepted weight draining as a standard in boxing 'Otherwise you would have the view points that you have'.
If the same day weigh in rule was reinstated 'Fighters may try and continue with their weight draining tactics'. Those same fighters will find out the hard way, that this type of training culture is no longer conducive or professional 'It is not optimal now'. Fighters will be putting themselves too much at a unnecessary risk, and their overall performance and conditioning will be negatively effected.
Fighters will have to throughout all the lower weight divisions train and fight closer to their natural weight 'Just like the old school fighters'. And as a result of this, I personally think the purity of the competition will be improved.Last edited by TheOneAboveAll; 03-11-2023, 11:58 PM.

He originally accused Garcia of using PEDs. I don’t mind rehydration clauses. We have weight classes for a reason. For this particular fight it’s unusual since Tank already fought at 140. Garcia accepted the terms and has plenty of time to make the weight without killing himself.

how about ringside weights, like jockies, u stick all your gear on and if u are over u dont get in the ring at all
oh dear imagine fattie fighter didnt make weight and the event was off with all bums in seats on the night lol, maybe thats a risky option
Actually maybe it could be made to work where u have to prove u are on track in the build up
Thinking again, to offset guys who might not make weight on the night u could have a buffer zone of say few pounds and if u stray into that u pay a hefty fine and the event goes on anyway since guys on the same weight and a few pounds is not going to be a major thingLast edited by Smash; 03-12-2023, 09:20 AM.
