Claiming Bruce Lee was his friend, they never met, claiming to be mystically chosen by Lee to be his official spokeperson. He is too close to the subject, to be objective. For example, Bruce Lee's notes were never meant for publication and Bruce Lee never claimed to be a philosopher. His philosophy was him reworking others philosophical insights into a martial arts framework. John Little claims that all of Bruce Lee's philosophy is completely original and entirely the work of Bruce Lee and the original writers get no credit. He claims that Bruce Lee had reached a stage of enlightenment, the one thing Bruce Lee didn't have was inner peace, look at how he treated his poor wife.
On the other hand you have writers like Tom Bleeker who is very anti Bruce Lee and pratically writes a whole book about him, without saying one positive thing about him.
I'm aware that Bleeker is Linda's ex husband. So, I expect some sensationalism on his part.

He had approval to publish Bruce Lees notes, but they are still Bruce Lees private notes and were never meant for publication. I think he has even released a book containing private letters, which Bruce had wrote to his friends. As for Linda Lee, remember this is the same person that endorsed, Dragon: the Bruce Lee story and passed of Bruce Lee's notes as The Tao of Bruce Lee, the last book written by Bruce Lee.

There are a few docs about Lee. On one, they can't follow his kicks and punches from start to finish, because he was to fast for the cameras back then. That's saying something even if it's not dodging bullets.

Mike Stone on Bruce Lee from the website below:
http://darkush.blogspot.com/2007/10/...bruce-lee.html
Ever wondered just how good Bruce Lee actually was? There are very few direct comments from anyone other than worshipful sycophants. A few people like Joon Rhee (“the father of American Tae Kwon Do”) who said that Lee was so fast that he, Rhee, couldn’t even get set. Or Louis Delgado, a fine competitor in the 60’s, who said he couldn’t touch Lee. Of course, there’s also the very believable story that grappler Gene LeBell simply tied Bruce into a knot—but then again, LeBell did that to EVERYONE. He’s simply the baddest bear on the block.
But regarding Lee, I came across an interesting clue yesterday. 60’s Karate legend and kickboxing pioneer Joe Lewis wrote a book called ‘How to master Bruce Lee’s fighting system.” Now, Lewis was arguably the greatest Karate Fighter in American history, and one of three people to be considered Lee’s private student/competitors at that time. The other two were Chuck Norris and Mike Stone. You might remember Stone as the guy who took Pricilla Presley away from Elvis. Elvis is rumored to have tried to take a hit out on Stone, and no one would take it. Stone, you see, was an absolutely awe-inspiring fighter. Earned his black belt in six months. Was unbeaten in individual black belt competition. Was never even scored on to the face! Considered an absolute animal, with a level of athleticism, speed, and aggression that was simply phenomenal. I saw the guy on “the Guiness Game” trying to break the world record for the flying side kick, many years ago. He injured his leg on one of the metal clamps used to hold the target board. Was bleeding all over the stage. But every time he made an attempt at the jump, he moved as if he had no injury at all. It was frightening to watch. What the hell kind of human being is THAT?
At any rate, Stone was, and remains, pure ego. I mean, he had no respect for ANYONE as a fighter. Thought there was no one any good at the time he was competing, and that he hasn’t seen anyone he thought was good to this day on the tournament circuit. Just not impressed by other fighters, at all. What does he say about Lee? Two things jumped out at me.
1) “He was much too fast to have competed in tournaments.”
2) When people thought that Stone was Lee’s student, he generally corrected them, stating that they worked out together. He thought that Lee had nothing to teach him about techniques. He didn’t consider Lee his teacher, he considered himself an equal. Wow. For a man with this record, that level of ability, that great an impact on the men competing against him, that much pure ego to say “I considered myself an equal” even though he was at least four inches taller suggests that Bruce Lee was, indeed, an absolutely superlative fighter, I kid you not.

Mike Stone is supposedly writing a biography and there will be a chapter in it dedicated with his relationship with bruce.
Bruce lee said of all the karate fighters, Mike Stone was the most naturally gifted. But Joe Lewis was the best karate fighter out of them all.
As regards Ed Parker telling Tom Bleeker he thinks Joe Lewis may have been too much for Bruce. Ed never would have said that when Bruce was around and didnt. Because Bruce was a ****y little dude, why cant it have been said when bruce was alive? Because Ed didnt think it. So is bascially taking a posthumous cheapshot. I can never be impressed with posthumous cheapshots.
I think Ed was telling Tom Bleeker what he was desperate to hear. Tom being the bruce hater he is. plus the fact Ed is a big guy and Joe Lewis is a big guy and they are just looking out for each other IMO. Big guys defend each other.
Big guys in general will not want to admit a little guy would beat them. It takes awful courage to admit that publicly. Sorry if this upsets anyone.Last edited by hugh grant; 10-02-2009, 06:06 PM.

Was Gene Lebell impressed with Bruce Lee as a fighter? What about Wong Shun-Leung, what were his views on Brucee Lee skills?
Any idea when Stone's biography will be released? I was planning on getting that Joe lewis book, with all the interviews with Lebell, Stone etc.
Did Gene Lebell consider Bruce Lee unbeatable?Last edited by Adamantium; 10-03-2009, 09:50 AM.

I know Ed Parker said bruce was the best when Lee was alive. If Ed had of said he thinks Joe would have been too much for Bruce, i would like to know what Bruces reaction would be. I certainly cant imagine Ed saying that to Bruce. So if he didnt say to bruce, to say it after Lee is dead is a cheapshot IMO.
We know what bruce said when Bruce was alive. He was vocal put his ideas out there in print and wherever. So were people tip toeing around bruce is what i want to know?
I would need proof he said that to Bruce. Did Ed actually say that to Tom, or is Tom making it up? Did Tom Bleeker make that claim after Ed died also? Im not an expert and i would need to know many things.
Im just going on my beliefs and instincts. MIke Stone is in the process of writing it, so i dont know when it will be released. As for Gene he said Bruce was the best martial artist of his time. I dont think he was unbeatable. But with big names they do play their cards close to their chests. Gene doesnt tell all he knows and thinks IMO.
Which is understadable really. Bruce always spoke his mind, and he may have upset people when he was alive without realizing it. Becuase people were probably nice to his face, but feeling resentment inwardly. There would be no need for them to butt lick bruce too much.
Chuck Norris for instance takes a back seat. He knows bruces credibility dont rest on his words. Chuck knows Bruce students and many other great names in the martial arts give bruce all the credit in the world, so there is nothing he needs add. Dont make him more immortal than he already is.Last edited by hugh grant; 10-03-2009, 11:04 AM.

How is it a cheap shot? Ed believes that the ex heavyweight karate champion who outweighed Lee by 50 lbs could beat him, Bruce wasn't unbeatable. Gene Lebell says the same thing as well, that Joe could beat Lee. The same Gene Lebell who manhandled Lee when they first sparred. Notice that Gene Lebell says that Bruce was a great martial artist, not a fighter, the two thing are not the same. Bruce was untested as a fighter.
Dan Inosanto says that out of all the martial artists he has trained with, he believes that Benny the Jet would be able to give Bruce a run for his money.Last edited by Adamantium; 10-03-2009, 12:04 PM.
