I have to agree here as I agreed with another poster at first but after thinking about it your comment on the trilogy is spot on & I never gave Bowe his due on that… It was a classic trilogy. I was always disappointed that Bowe & Lewis never went at it. Just the live showing of Bowe throwing the belt in the trash was pretty sad. He was never in the WBC rankings again if I haven’t mistaken…

What and Fury is gonna stand there and let people do it?

He’ll just wrap you up and lean on you if you get close enough to do it. And that’s after even trying to get past the reach or taking damage trying to.

Of course you can lend some body shots, but it’s going to be extremely difficult to do it considerably enough without being wrapped up, leaned on, caught coming in etc.

      Fury would’ve whooped Bowe

You have to understand that Bowe comes from an era where heavyweights were actually well rounded boxers. They had good foot movement, sharp jabs, threw combinations, which is virtually extinct in todays HW era.

Doesn't matter how it was done. If I kill someone in front of hundreds of people and you kill someone in the privacy of their home, it doesn't make you any less of a killer than me..

Bowe had a great uppercut(just as Lewis) and if he could land an uppercut on the much shorter Holyfield, I see no problem with landing on a 6'9 opponent that wants to clinch. This is what made Tyson so dangerous in the 80s is that he used body work and uppercuts. His favorite combination was a right to the body followed by a right uppercut. He caught Evander with that once in their first fight during the 5th round and hurt him with it, but then got away from it. The uppercut should only be thrown from in close because if you throw it from a distance, it leaves you open to counters. Hamed and Ruddock used to get away with it until they couldn't. Peep Douglass vs HOlyfield when he threw the uppercut and miss that holyfield countered with a right(and then Douglass just laid there and took his $24 million check)

I dunno. I thought about that at times watching Fury fight and I feel like he retains just enough layer of fat to soften those body blows. Not that he's retaining it intentionally. It's just part of his build and I think it works to his advantage.

Not a very good analogy. Killing someone is against the law. Relinquishing a world title to avoid an awkward mandatory isn't.

A better analogy would be cheating on your wife. If you do it discreetly you might get away with it, even if your wife finds out. But if you do it blatantly and brag about it to her friends and family, she will never forgive you.

it was a great analogy. Bowe threw the belt in the trash can in public, Lennox secretly threw his TWO in the trash can behind closed doors. A person that kills someone in front of hundreds of people are basically taunting you with no fear of being caught (see William Bradley who committed one of the most famous assassinations during the 60s in front of at least 300 people and never was charged for it)

Like I said, murdering someone is against the law, relinquishing a title belt isn't.

If William Bradley was one of the guys who shot Malcolm X then the reason he got away with it was that another guy was wrongly identified by witnesses. There was no such confusion when Rid**** Bowe chucked his WBC belt in the bin. That was definitely Rid****, no doubt about it.

Bowe is absolutely right. Today's heavyweights can't box anyways. Folks discover big men and turn them into knockout artists or what have you, never taking time to fully expose their proteges to the science/art of the sport.
