How can Floyd think he is better than Roy Jones? Does he literally think he is better?

Floyd's big shtick is that he is "TBE" aka the best ever... This is in part a marketing gimmick but when you watch Floyd do interviews you start to think he GENUINELY thinks he's the best, most talents boxer ever.

In terms of natural talent he is one of the best... But he is CLEARLY not as talented as Roy in his prime, and you'd think this would be glaringly obvious to Floyd himself....

Do you think Floyd actually thinks he is more talented than Roy, or is all the TBE talk just a marketing ploy and he knows deep down he's not as talented? I mean, there was an overlap where Floyd and Roy were both in their their prime at a certain point.... It's not like Roy is some mythical fighter of the past with no video footage.... I'm sure Floyd saw Roy fight in person many times

In terms of fast, super slick boxers Roy and Floyd are maybe the top two fighters people think of... Yet Floyd almost never mentions Roy's name in interviews (in fact, I don't know if he EVER has)... Of course, Roy knows what's up and isn't afraid to talk about other fighters... But Floyd seems almost UNABLE to honestly rate himself against other great fighters...

So is it all a marketing ploy or does Floyd believe his own hype?

Technically, and it hurts me to say it, Floyd is better. Physically Roy was phenomenal and certainly superior to Floyd in that way. I guess it depends what is meant by “better”.

I think if were the same size RJJ would beat Floyd like he did BH. When people say RJJ is greater he took more risks and would beat Floyd if all things were equal.

Roy had the higher peak, Floyd had the longer prime. People actually thought Roy was unbeatable at a certain time. As great as Floyd was, he never had that aura of invincibility.

With that being said, of course one great fighter will think he's better than another, it's in their DNA to think that way.

Floyd is WAY better fundamental fighter. Roy Jones was athleticism merchant. He got exposed badly when he started to slow down.

Best fighters are combination of athleticism and fundamental skills. Floyd is ultimate example of that.

            Kind of did, though.

That was part of his shtick, that no one can beat him.

How is Floyd technically better than a PRIME Roy? Who got hit less? Who PLAYED with their opponents? Floyd had closer fights in his prime with his opposition. Roy had NO close fights. Roy HIMSELF said that his athleticism would of been nothing without his technical base.

Floyd LITERALLY says that what differentiates him from other fights is his "God given talent"... he is talking about athleticism really... he has stated he is the fastest fighter of all time... Floyd seems to think that he is a level above everyone in the pure natural talent department when that is simply not the case... And Roy is the glaring example he refuses to acknowledge.

Again no... Roy is the "ultimate" example of that... Without fundamental skills you can't use your athleticism... at least not to it's potential... To get the most out of your athleticism in boxing you have to be technical...

If the sweet science is hit and not got it... who, in their prime, better exemplifies this?

I do believe that Roy Jones Jr, as great as he was, is the most overrated fighter in this forum. Floyd was certainly the better overall fighter.
