By far his best performance. I was there to see it live. Sad that Rigo never again fought such a great fight. God knows he had his chances.

Bad attitude i.e wanting to be paid fairly as one of the best amateurs in the world.

Hopefully he’s signed by a major promoter.
      Haha Exactly.

More like they give you a small cut to their fighters. An olympic gold medalist in Cuba makes the equivalent of $300 per month. World champ makes $200 if I am not mistaken. Silver medalist $100 and Bronze medalist $50. Crazy system. They can give you a car and such like Rigo got a Mitsubishi then as soon as he tried to defect they took it away. I know Ismael Borrero who was a gold medalist in grecko roman wrestling got a kia that was breaking down all the time.

Actually after Rio where Robeisy Ramirez won a gold they had a big team meeting to give the champs cars, most likely a hyundai and Robeisy Ramirez was not invited so he went in anyway and there was a big fight. Eventually he defected to Mexico.

He’s one of the most frustrating fighters I’ve ever seen so much talent yet such little application in so many of his fight.

Back in the day I was a fan but he never managed to step up his offensive game and I lost interest.

You’re right; you put it more accurately. It’s insanity. Hardly anyone outside the island knows about this stuff. Frankly, you know more details than I do. Crazy to think that someone at the Walmart checkout is making more money than a Cuban boxer who could be making hundreds of thousands, if not millions, given the chance to defect.

Totally. I just had it with him after one of his fights. Might’ve been Agbeko. Couldn’t take his nonsense anymore. Honestly, I think there’s a screw loose with him. One of the greatest wastes of boxing talent I’ve ever seen — if not the greatest.

Same here. Rigo lost me a long time ago. (See above post.)
