Do I have a reasonable argument for having Floyd Mayweather Jr as the greatest fighter of all time?

All those super old timers like Langford, Greb, Benny, Gans, Fitzsimmons would get murdled by fighters of today. Fitzsimmons wouldn't get out of a regional golden gloves novice division. I'm not being toxic here man, those guys ******. They had no trainers and it was just a matter of who was tougher and had more guts.
Look at this guy, he's asscheeks and you got him in the all time top 15?
I say this with supreme confidence, I'll beat the shit out of Fitzsimmons in brutal fashion ---> sleepin! I don't have a pro fight to my name, but I've done enough to know I'll brutalize than man with extreme prejudice lol.
Even your pro list, I like Manny, but Trampler and TR positioned him. Lots of other fighters worthy of his slot. Pep for one should have that.Last edited by War Room; 06-03-2022, 02:40 PM.Comment

We don't talk about H2H ability. We talk about "greatness". These guys re-created boxing. Fitzsimmons is the oldest ATG ever imo. He carried boxing on his shoulders and made boxing, an extension of the bare knuckle at that time, more famous.

Greb beat numerous HoF at his time. He fought f**kin everyone without exception. He was WW and he even fought at HW with ATGs like Tunney. He is the greatest ever with SRR no doubt. He lost his eye for love of boxing.
Langford started at LW and fought at HW. He was f**kin 169 cm midget. He fought 200 times.
That's what I call greatness. Not perfectly managed undefeated career.Last edited by Silence; 06-03-2022, 03:06 PM.Comment

Haha what a **** postHe is nowhere near being GOAT. Barely top 15. Pac is nowhere near too. Both are overrated cucumbers with forced arguments. bUt bUt 50-0, bUt bUt 8 division champ. Floyd's resume is weak and Pac is too flawed as a fighter.
In fact, only Canelo came close to being GOAT and he was just three fights away from GOAT level. Bivol, Beterbiev and Usyk wins would made him GOAT by good margin but he failed in reality.
Canelo came close then state 3 fights he needed to be your so called goat and lost at the first hurdle
How is that coming close to your deluded goat status

I understand what you mean by great now, I just tend to think who would have beaten who ---> not their overall historical contribution to the sport. I won't fight you on it though because you do have some valid points and we're all here for the same reason.

Mayweathers career wasn't perfectly managed imo. He got Manny when Manny was still dominating fighters. I don't score Bradley as a loss, I had Manny winning and everybody knows TR fixed that because Pac's contract was up and Bob does that. JMM caught him, but that was bound to happen.
He fought a lot of dangerous fighters early in his career. I wasn't paying attention to odds back then, but all of my boxing friends had Corrales going into that fight. 33-0-27 he was killing it. He fought all the top dogs when they were hot and if they weren't it was due to no fault of his own. Manny on the other hand, there was a criteria. You needed to have recent losses or get shrunk.Last edited by War Room; 06-03-2022, 04:17 PM.Comment

Innovation and contribution are the most signifcant concepts to be great. That's why SRR is goat. Pre-Robinson era full of cavemen. Even ATGs like Greb and Langford were looked primitive. With Robinson, fighters started to look much more modern. You can see that on films. Ali and Pep are biggest fruids of post-Robinson era. Pep and Ali themselves also changed boxing. Ali isn't even top 5 H2H HW imo but his resume and innovation ability are unrivaled. I am Fury fan and Fury would beat him badly but Fury is nowhere near as great as Ali. Louis is even worse. Even Briedis would beat him badly in modern era. But, his greatness is on part with Ali.

Mayweather's career is perfectly managed since 2007. He barely beat shot Oscar De La Hoya and started to pick his opponents.Comment

I had him beating Oscar 116-112. I don't think he was shot, definitely not his prime, but I think Forbes was when he was looking done and I know that looks like I'm just sticking up for him but look at who he fought before Floyd and you tell me if he looked shot. His decline started with Sturm but that was 160 dude, lost to Hopkins, no big deal, knocked out Mayorga, then Floyd. Nobody said Oscar was shot when he was knocking out Mayorga.
Oscar, Hatton, Cotto, Shane (nobody was saying Shane was old when he knocked Magrarito the fight before Flyd and Mayorga before that), Canelo, and Manny were dangerous fighters. JMM (after 2 years out rust-shedder), Ortiz, Guerro, Maidana, Berto, and McTapout were cherries, but he earned those.
5 cherries out of 13 of his last fights in the last 10 years of a 21 year career isn't bad dude.Comment
