Alot of people give joe more then what he's due, stayed in basically 1 division, a weak one at that, and stepped out to fight old fighters, and still got Kd by both of them, and to win a still debated SD over hopkins.

i can see the bias in the joe fans

The fact is, he fought and made 168lbs only 4 months before the Roy Jones fight.. he was 44-0, he was #2 on the P4P list... unbelievable people try to discredit the win.

On top of the fact that Roy was MOVING UP in weight at only 26-0.

he wasnt Drained, he was good at 168, Hatton Ballons up to around 170 between fights, when he goes down to 140 is he drained when he beat people?

You're welcome to your opinion, reed, but you know I disagree with you. It's not something I want to argue about. Me, I'd pick Joe Calzaghe to beat Roy Jones no matter what the year, he is too busy and too awkward for Jones and I've never changed that opinion in about 10 years.

Controversial? Yes, because I'm supposed to see Roy Jones as some kind of a God, apparently.

It's ironic how you make a comment regarding that you're supposed to somehow view Roy as a God.. but the way you talk of Joe... I would think that's how you think of Joe. Roy beats Joe prime for prime... in Roys prime, Joe's workrate works against him by being countered at will... THIS Roy, covers up, and it allows Joe to let his hands go.

Each to their own. To me he doesn't get enough due for many reasons. He will always be one of my favourite fighters.

I guess we all should just say 24 hours a day "Roy is the greatest, Roy is the man, NOBODY could ever beat him!"

My opinion of Roy beating Joe in his prime doesnt take anything away from Joe though... Joe is no doubt a great fighter...

But anyone looking at the video of Joe beating up a 40yr old Roy, who hadnt won an elite fight in 5+ years... as some kind of glorious victory, or as some kind of indication of what would happen in 1999... then you are delussional.

You've got me all wrong, that's why. Lots of people on this forum have. The reason why is because I always stuck up for Joe and have never been afraid to speak my mind about it. He's not a God, I just think his style and confidence is exactly what Jones doesn't like. Jones needs to look flashy. Joe would never allow him to do that and never allow himself to be bullied by Roy.

Reed, I don't have heroes. You might not be able to relate to what I'm saying because you're such a keen fan of Roy Jones, and it's fair enough -- I like the fact that you're a superfan -- but I can't relate to it.
