It's true that he's been avoided like the plague by most top names around his division for being high risk-low reward

but Rigo did himself no favours by stinking out the place so many times against no-names, thus reducing his already low marketability even more, giving the duckers more reason to duck him

so his career has been a big dissapointment, as he looked like he was destined to do great things after beating Donaire way back in 2013, but it never happened

and he really dissapointed EVERYone with his quit job against Lomachenko, you can't do that **** in the biggest fight of you career, in one of the most expected fights in boxing

most fans stopped caring about him after that

I dont think you can blame him for not getting the flights. Arum hated him for beating Donaire, and pretty much did everything he could to not make meaningful fights for Rigo after that. I mean honestly when is the last time you heard a fighters own promoter going around and calling him boring to the press?

Rigo was forced up two weight classes against a Loma that was about to move up in weight. That fight would have been something really special if Loma was a bit smaller or Rigo was a bit bigger. But its became clear pretty early on that he was out sized and out classed.

So, yes, Ruiz, also Usyk, and any fights that may have had surprising outcomes based on their odds alone.

Again, I realize I didn't read your post properly and that's not really a point that has anything to do with what you said, at this point I am just explaining myself.

For me, if I were to list all my neigh saying I've done through AJ's career I'd make this post very long, I know because I started to. So he's definitely overachieved in my book.

But I was considering how most people probably use bookies as experts. Hard to categorize a guy who lets down the masses as an overachiever even if my own opinion was so much lower of the guy that's the only thing I could possibly call him on any kind of personal level.

Guess the quickest thing I could have said was being anti-casual is a bias too
Yeah that’s essentially my point man, the expectations got crazily elevated because of the hype, the large casual fanbase, the PR spin etc. Joshua is a good Heavyweight but he never has been a never will be a great Heavyweight- that’s not me hating or anything it’s just blatantly obvious and always was. He was never going to be the guy they made him out to be.

I always used to laugh to myself talking to supposed massive AJ fan’s cause I’d been following him way longer than they had. I was literally at York Hall to watch Jazza ****ens, Ryan Farrag and Paul Butler the same night AJ won his first ABA title against some unknown kid for the Isle of Man.

A lot of these guys’ first memory of AJ was probably him winning the Olympic Gold Medal or being built up as the second coming of Ali and Tyson combined by the Sky Sports PR machine. They don’t remember the same technically flawed, green-looking stiff I was watching, who’s ceiling I would have confidently predicted would be domestic level.

For AJ to come from where he was in 09-10 to winning an Olympic title, to winning a unified version of the HW title is definitely an overachievement IMO.

          It's a plenty fair assessment.

Broner for Nash. The Broner hype machine was in full force. He was even in many a top 5 P4P list, though, he was nowhere near worthy. It was the Paulie fight (split decision win) I scored it a draw, when people realised he likely doesn't have it. Then Maidana smashed the dude up. One thing I will credit Broner for though, he took a pasting that night, but never gave up, never quit like Mike Tyson would have, and even won around 4 Rounds. Nash out.

it has to be AJ. when he won the gold Medal he was thought the be the next Lennox Lewis. He's more like Jerry Lewis.
