What an odd set of statements for anyone to be upset with. Porter literally says that Boots is the closest thing we have to Roy Jones and that he’ll be the next star in the sport. That’s not enough praise? His issue seems to be the disrespectful shown to the current champs from fans claiming that Boots would destroy everyone before he’s actually fought anyone of note in the ring.

Shawn was correct and I'm glad he stood behind his statement. It wasn't meant out of malice, it was simply the truth. Ennis IS unproven and Shawn had better, more lucrative fights lined up in his latter days at Welterweight.

Until Ennis proves himself, he is overrated. Respectfully. I can't say how many fighters have been placed atop of fans' mythical P4P list and now those same fighters are hated by said fans because their career isn't going in the direction most thought. Crawford comes to mind.

Everybody had Crawford beating any and every mythical challenger presented in fantasy fight threads. Now, he's a "duck" and gets called Crawfish and so on. Remember when everybody had Broner beating everybody in multiple weight classes before fights were even signed? I still remember.

So, until a fighter's proven, it's best to just keep watching and see how things pan out before crowning them the duke of all shits.

Got mad love for Ennis but he's not on anybody radar right now. Hell, we're still trying to get some of the Welterweights to fight each other....for bigger paydays....where are we with that? It all takes time. Shawn was right.

I understand high risk low reward and taking the easier fight but dont knock Boots because he shows everytime out he is a monster. Every time Boots fights its gonna be his toughest test and every time he destroys the competition SOMEBODY NEEDS TO STEP UP AND GIVE THIS KID HIS SHOT. I know who I'll put my money on.
The IBF needs to do their job! They've searched the whole globe for someone to fight Hrgovic in a Final Eliminator, meanwhile Jaron Ennis and Subriel Matias are sitting around waiting for them to order the fights they need!

Porter ain’t wrong, boxing fans act like they are fortune tellers. Even mention a hypothetical fight and some fans can’t even imagine anything but their own narrative. We wouldn’t watch this sport if it was that easy to pick winners and it’s time folks get called on being too much of a fan of someone. This ain’t the mayweather era that suddenly had a million first time boxing fans suddenly I claiming they were life long fans. Fury, Canelo, Andrade, Spence and Crawford fans pay attention here..

With comments like Ennis would knock out the top 3 147lbers how is his comment not true? Until he fights good opponents he is overrated specifically cuz of fans.

People need to get out their feelings.

Not only that, who has he faced that was as big as these 2. The answer is nobody, and either one is a very, very live dog if they ever get the chance.

                I respect your opinion.

My opinion, Ortiz & Ennis have not faced no one on their resume nearly as skilled as Spence & Crawford. I don't even know if they can beat any of the 2nd tier guys (Thurman, Garcia, Ugas, Porter) and then there are other fellow prospect (Bustaev, Stananios, Benn, Yeleussinov, & Bes*****) who are not walks in the park.

With that being said, they are both good prospect but the eyeball test is not enough.

He is "overrated" but still nobody is in rush to beat him. Thurman rather fought Barrios for example.

I was hoping Boots could get a fight with Berto so we could see him vs a former champ. Dunkin needs to get him something though, Ortiz already has a date down and is staying in the public eye

People do seem to be going a bit overboard. Nothing new though.
