You know how it is, you beat a couple of has-beens and B level guys and all of a sudden you're the boogeyman and the guy who would beat Crawford and Spence on the same night. Boxing fans are not the smartest group of people in the world that's for sure

Both Crawford and Spence have fought a very low level of competition, Spence best win was against Brook, Crawford beat a low level porter

I get what your saying. But what people misunderstand is that Porter is not saying Ennis won't do this or that. Just that he hasn't yet. And in that respect he's not wrong. Some of the hype surrounding him is insane. I've seen comments ranging from " he beats everyone at 147 right now " to " he'll dominate boxing from 147 through 168 ". And I'm sure he will do some special stuff, but a lot of people are getting carried away, and he's not fought for his first title yet. I'm the type of guy that is loathe to claim fighters are something they have not achieved yet. But I recognize talent and potential, and will always acknowledge it. So I take Porters point, because Ennis hasn't achieved yet, but he has talent and potential in abundance. But not everyone who has goes on to fufill. So I'm guessing Porter is being cautious just in case. Perhaps his own career reminds him of what to much hype can lead to. He was heavily hyped and lost his title in his 2nd defence. He's simply making the point, he's not done anything yet and in that respect he's correct, and saying let's see the fights first. If and when Ennis achieves I'm sure Porter will fully acknowledge it's worth.

              He's right tho.
Ennis/Ortiz are overrated by their fanbase.
Both of their best wins were against 140 pounders (Lipinets/Hooker).

              Nuff said.

I see this as "The Pot Calling The Kettle Black!" Shawn Porter came in the game with more hype than Boots has now! He was going to be the WW Mike Tyson! Shawn wasn't shying away from that hype! If he was to say "Boots Ennis is UNPROVEN," I would not have a problem with that! However, to say a man with 29 fights, and 26 KOs, is OVERRATED, that's different! That's hate! F--k Shawn Porter!

I think your correct in that he chose the wrong word. Porter did say in an interview with Marcos Villasana ( who suggested that unproven might be a better way of putting it ) that perhaps overrated was not the best way to describe it.
