I don't think THE SPORT OF BOXING in general has many fans as a whole, only certain BOXERS have fans so that is the difference. Compared to MMA Fans who do have the favorites but seems to enjoy the sport more as a whole and they actually Support their Women Fighters as well. Boxing Fans Complain...A LOT! On Other Forums in the MMA Section, of course you have your Loser Trolls, those guys are everywhere on the Internet but for the most part...totally different from Boxing Fans

That Mayweather and Pacquiao ERA RUINED the sport of boxing going forward IMO! Everything is just about picking aside and trashing the opposing side, it is ZERO Respect in this sport from Fans, Promoters, Boxing Media...it is all TRASH! Old Childish Men who feel tough disrespecting fighters on the internet but face to face these are the same losers who are like "Can I Get A Interview With You Champ" "Can I Get A Picture With You Champ"

So Yeah I don't like None Of You! lol I'm still only here because outside of the his forum, the boxing section on other Forums and is completely Dead further proving the lack of Boxing Fans As A Whole
The sport of Boxing has far more fans globally than mma.

And Canelo made more alone than every fighter purse on that card combined and multiplied by 3 hahaha.

Globally yes, my Comment is more about the type of fans we have here in the U.S.

British Fans for example are completely different. They still support guys like Chisora and they Support Katie Taylor so this doesn't apply to them because they're not as FICKLE as the fans here in America

McGregor has played a blinder really. He has a ton of fans but also a ton of haters, when he fights they all tune in.

I think MMA fans are loyal to their sport. MMA fans are often mocked by boxing fans, but I never see any of them celebrating good fights falling through, or making excuses for good fights not being made. In boxing the fans do that all the time.

            I agree...

I think it's because there's limited history in MMA.

I think in MMA they understand, styles make fights, a lot of fighting is on the night and a loss doesn't mean you are finished. In boxing especially because of Floyd, losses are the end of the world.
I think this is the essence of the difference. MMA and their fans are generally more tolerant of losses than alot of boxing fans. In MMA, there are more variables that mean upsets (and thus losses) can happen that don't necessarily signal the downfall of a fighter's career. They also don't have quite as many "soft" fights.

At some point boxing and the fans became obsessed with perfection and undefeated records to the detriment of seeing the best facing the best.

I bet MMA fans have more fun being fans than boxing fans do. They get to watch top level fights all the time without waiting years to see them happen. Boxing is it's own worst enemy

                      1) A lot of people buy Conor fights to see him get his ass kicked
                      2) Losing is more common in MMA because theres less cherry picking, and (Nate aside, bad stylistic match up) Conors losses are to elite fighters. At this point theres still a belief that he could be a threat to some top guys.
                      3) MMA has more of a watch party type culture and people buy fights often because they just like the sport and want a night of good entertainment.

KSW did like 60'000 people in attendance for a domestic show in Poland a few years back. A lot of the Russian MMA orgs are quite big. Pride FC was huge in Japan and Rizin is pretty big now. There are absolutely domestic fights and multiple levels in MMA before you get to UFC level.

just look at Randy Couture's resume of 19-11-0

he's considered a šlegend of the octagonš in mma

in boxing, he'd be called a bum
Theres more to a record than just the win/loss ratio. He won two world titles after 40, competed at UFC level until he was nearly 50, had multiple fights at HW where he was totally undersized, has more worthwhile wins on his resume than Fury does and gets bonus points for being an early entrant into the sport and one of the guys that raised the bar for skill, athleticism and professionalism.

I dunno how anyone could look at Coutures skillset and think he was a bum. He was an olympic caliber wrestler with a high fight IQ. And we didnt even see the best of him, he was already 34 when he had his first fight and still managed to have a good 14 year career with what he had left in the tank.
