Crawford's been doing his job in the ring, he's on a streak of 9 knockouts in a row for god's sake, and it's not like he's been fighting cab drivers either. It's the fighter's job to fight and the promoter's job to promote. If Bud fights aren't making money that's because of Arum, plain and simple.

Both have a point I guess. Crawford is one of the best in the world, but he can't really demand Canelo or Fury type money.

Then again, Bob hasn't secured him a fight with Spence. He beat Porter, his biggest win, in a strange stoppage, but ok, got the win.

Will Bud pursue Ennis and Ortiz jr, if he can't get Spence, even though they don't have titles now? Does he go up to fight Charlo, or why not middleweight and fight GGG? Be greater.

It is hard to be a PPV draw so that shouldn't be something Crawford gets killed for, but Arum needs to stop saying he is losing money on every single one of his fights. So is he losing money on every single of Lomachenko's fights or Fury fights? Crawford routinely does better gates and sells more tickets than both those guys...Lomachenko himself is making close to 3M a fight, so how is Arum not losing money on his fights? How is he not losing money on Fury fights when he makes over 10M a fight and does less a million at the gate (Non-Wilder opponents). Why does Arum just mention this same line for Crawford after every fight but no one else?
Sorry I was meant to say boring outside of the ring, I agree he is an exciting and fantastic fighter.

That's too simplistic. It's easier to promote a fighter like MikeTyson or Tyson Fury. And while not cab drivers, the fighters he's fought at WW apart from Porter are not a murderer's row either.
I think K2 promotions did a great job with GGG while they had him. They took him from unknown to semi-well-known. They had him throw 1st pitch at various baseball games and had him in front of the camera with his goof-ball English - Arum hasn't done any of that with Crawford as far as I'm aware.
I also do think that many regular black boxers get over looked from a cross-over point which is a real shame. I'm thinking Spence, Crawford, Andrade, and Wilder. Especially Wilder. His promoters did a lousy job when he was on his winning streak - he should have been on the lips of every American casual - but I don't think he was. Lost opportunity. Meanwhile the more street/urban/hood you are perceived to be then that seems to resonate more - Floyd/Tank/Broner. This would sound better from a poster who isn't a white Brit - but that's the way I see it.

              Arum: Crawford Isn't PPV Draw

Bob... YOU are the promoter, not Crawford

YOU, can only criticize Crawford for being a shltty fighter... CRAWFORD, can only criticize you for being a shltty promoter

THAT... is how this game works

Crawford: Arum is a shltty fighter

see how it works Bob ?

in saying that... 135,000 PPV buys... WTF ?

              WHY ?

that fight should have sold for two reasons...

              1) Crawford is one of the very best fighters in the world... a rare talent
              2) his opponent was a 100% dog that h
as never been in a bad fight, who desperately needed that win so was coming for blood

the fight was obviously going to be terrific, and it pretty much lived up to expectations

              WTF ?

no idea why Crawford can't sell shlt... be very interested to hear what everybody thinks on that front

              WHY ?

If only Arum would've let Floyd fight Oscar, instead of trying to make Mayweather vs. Margarito? Would Floyd have stayed at TR? Bob admitted that he "didn't know how to market Mayweather to the "Urban" market!" History often repeats itself!

Mayweather turns down $8 million to fight Margarito

Arum said Mayweather preferred to await the outcome of the May 6 Oscar De La Hoya-Ricardo Mayorga fight instead of committing to Margarito because he would prefer to fight De La Hoya.

"We're not sitting waiting on De La Hoya," Ellerbe said. "He's in a tough, tough fight with Mayorga."

Many in the sport believe a De La Hoya-Mayweather fight is the biggest fight on the horizon and the only one capable of generating 1 million-plus buys on pay-per-view.

The reason Mayweather opted for the buyout rather than waiting for the May 6 result was because the contract had a limited window for the buyout, one that expired before the De La Hoya fight. However, Arum said he would have extended the window if Mayweather had asked. What Arum wouldn't do, he said, was raise the guarantees for other fights outlined in the contract.

Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.

Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.

"That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road."

Floyd Mayweather Jr. rejected promoter Bob Arum's $8 million offer to fight welterweight titlist Antonio Margarito, and he instead exercised a provision in his contract to buy Arum out.

Bob Arum admits he killed Pacquiao-Crawford fight, didn’t want to see Manny take damage

“Well I killed the fight. Yeah. [I wouldn’t want that for Manny] because I know how it would end...Not that I knew that it would end in serious disability for Manny — that I wouldn’t know — but as a fight it would only end one way.

“Forget my emotions, I wouldn’t wanna see him take that kind of damage because it might affect his future life — quality of his future life.”

Great job.. You've been waiting for this article

Gotta agree with Bob. Crawford has absolutely no charisma. Talented as hell but boring on the mic.
