Quite simply it is because of who promotes him and which network he usually fights on. If this was a PBC fighter they would be swinging off his d1kk.

Why the hate for Devin Haney?

I also saw a thread saying that Diaz would beat Haney so there was a segment of posters predicting the upset. Not the majority or anything but a segment. My point is that Diaz was a legit opponent.

Haney was elevated from Interim world champion to world champion. Lomachenko was elevated from World champion to Franchise World champion. Franchise world champion is higher than world champion in the WBC.
Nobody had a problem with Loma being elevated just because he asked to be elevated, however everyone had a problem with Haney receiving an “email” title that he didn’t ask for.

Haney is good. Well balanced technically and could be better. But he is hyped to the gills. When you are hyped as something bigger than you actually are it could do you both good and harm, it comes with the territory. The results are entirely up to him.
Personally i thought he won clearly but it wasn’t as impressive as i’ve hoped it be. It wasn’t a master class given his advantages and they way they hyped him up — it should have been.
i like the way he fights, with a little bit power he’d be really really interesting. But as of now i don’t see him as anything special. If that was his first test then i was not impressed. Good win for him though, and i hope he proves me wrong next time.

And speaking of pillow fisted, Haney can't punch. He's supposed to be able to at least be putting people away at lightweight considering he rehydrates to 160 plus pounds. He can't put away a little guy in there. He's going to take an L soon unless he's carefully matched.
You want to talk about a fighter with too much hype then look no further than the non American lomachenko who’s still overhyped even after being exposed. Still on p4p lists with a 15-2 record and his best win coming years ago. Now that the kind of overhyping that having the right look gets you yet none of you have an issue with that.Last edited by Goldie; 12-05-2021, 07:24 AM.

I couldn’t care less about what Lomachenko was elevated to for whatever reason.
Lomachenko was the champion and lost to Teo who lost to Kambosos. That’s the champion.
Haney’s belt is as fake as a belt could possibly get.

Don't be racist and arrogant and people will like you. It's pretty simple. Mix that with the fact people say guys like Loma ducked him, then you watch last night and laugh your ass off again at those clowns.Rec28
