Why the hate for Devin Haney?

Let the haters stay busy while they drink their haterade and all Devin Haney is going to do is keep winning. His success is just making them that much bitter. They even predicted a JoJo Diaz win here tonight and the fight wasn't even close. The only reason why they chose Diaz to win is because they hate Devin so much.

I couldn’t care less about what Lomachenko was elevated to for whatever reason.

Lomachenko was the champion and lost to Teo who lost to Kambosos. That’s the champion.

Haney’s belt is as fake as a belt could possibly get.

So basically Haney deserves criticism but Loma doesn’t? And hasn’t Haney been trying to clear up the WBC belt confusion for three years? Everyone else just spouts the same “email champion “ nonsense and people go along with it because they don’t like Devin.

My thought is that if people don’t like Haney then they should want one of the top guys to come knock him out.

Diaz is as tough as they come. Everyone knew that if Haney would have defeated Jo Jo it would have to come by way of a UD. Also, one must give Diaz some blame too. He didn't come to win or go balls to the wall with Haney either.

Haney was the one who was consistently getting his punches off first by beating JoJo the punch. Moreover, Diaz held back a lot in this fight by refusing to let his hands go and by only fighting in spurts.

He refused to engage or trade with Devin Haney for fear of getting knockout. Devin had to punch around that high guard of his and was forced to land more body punches than usual.

Overall, I thought Haney performed very well. Given Diaz' experience; This was his toughest opponent and test to date and he passed it with flying colors.

I don't hate the guy but with his size and reach advantage tonight he should have won impressively. Instead he underwhelmed and was kind of boring.

There doesn't seem to be anything special about him. His lack of power will show up even more once he moves up to 140.

Why would they hate Haney? He seems like a nice kid from all the interviews I have seen. He is talented with some flaws just like everyone else. I think his chin may let him down if he faced a real power puncher like Tank or even Garcia with his speed could catch him with something he doesn't even see and it could be lights out but His offense is good, he mixes his punches up nicely and he's athletic. I just don't think he is what some people hyped him up to be which was a GREAT fighter

except Haney is huge with a long reach and he moves around quite a bit. I'd favor Loma at this point but it wouldn't be easy work

The dude hardly threw any punches. He fought only in spurts. He was solely waiting on openings and counters before launching an offensive attack on Haney. Which explains the lopsided scores on the judges scorecards.

He knew damn well that he stood no chance against Devin by fighting on the outside. The bottom line is JoJo just didn't try hard enough. He was in there to just merely survive and go the distance with his guard defense.

He refused to engage or trade any punches with Haney. So let's be real and tell the truth here.

He just passed a legit test against JoJo Diaz and a lot of people thought Haney would lose.

Everyone claims that his belt is fake when it’s the “Franchise” designation that’s actually fake. It was literally created out of thin air so Lomachenko wouldn’t have to face Devin Haney.

That’s why Haney was elevated from interim champion to full champion by the WBC.

Then I hear people say that no one is interested in fighting Devin Haney, even guys like Ryan Garcia who have never won a world title.

Last but not least, I see people giving the other top guys a pass by saying that Tank,Teo, etc would destroy Haney anyway, yet none of those guys seem to share your confidence.

Out of the four kings; Devin is ranked last among them because of his lack of punching power. Tank, Teo and King Ry are all ranked higher than him but all three refuse to fight him; Why?

For example, Haney only fought Jorge Linares because Ryan Garcia was his mandatory challenger at the time but ducked him. In addition, Teo was going to duck him too and Tank has never expressed a desire to fight him either.

However, you do make a good point. Devin does need to work on his upper body defense. He should work more with Money Mayweather in order to help improve that weakness in his fight game.

He got caught flush several times in that fight with JoJo and was perhaps even a little buzzed by them.
