Why the hate for Devin Haney?

I don't hate the guy but with his size and reach advantage tonight he should have won impressively. Instead he underwhelmed and was kind of boring.

There doesn't seem to be anything special about him. His lack of power will show up even more once he moves up to 140.

Because he reminds them of Floyd so they will put him under a microscope and hate on him until the end of time praying for his demise and letting their hate cloud their judgement.

Floyd/SRL comparisons. Good boxer. Needs to clean some stuff up but he's definitely not on that level.

There's other irrational hate going on as well but I'm not sure what that's about.

He gets clipped with a good shot and apparently he has no chin but they will talk up Cryan Garcia who has been knocked down real heavy and hurt a bag of times by complete non punchers.

They're praying he has no chin cause deep in their hearts they know he'll box the ears off their favourite fighters and its their only real chance.
The thing is he will move to 140 soon and that is only going to help with his punch resistance and his power.

I don't think anyone at 135-140 beats this kid but maybe and probably Tank.

He's not the next Floyd he isn't as good as Floyd was at that age or weight, absolutely not but he's a damn good boxer in his own right and it'll take something and someone pretty special to beat him.
Once he goes to 140 people will say he is food but that is an easier division right now and again he will be better and any slim chance they had practically goes out the window.

Unless he fights Tank whom he can beat also forget about this kid losing anytime soon.

Fight was semi-exciting and both fighters put forth their best, but the lack of power from both was telling. That fight needed a good finish. I kept thinking the lightweight division ain't that good during the fight.

We also saw last week what a complete bum did to Lopez. I think this is Haney and Diaz's ceiling. If they face a good boxer with a big punch, they would be laid out.

We will see what happens tomorrow as well.

I remember you saying that Jo Jo would be a good fight for Tank.
Does this fight make you change your mind.
I think Diaz needs to go back down to 130.
Diaz looked slow sluggish with no power.
Tank would have definitely knocked out that version of Jo jo.
That's the worst version of Diaz I've seen since following him.

I used to want that fight. Gervonta would have battered JoJo in an exciting fight in 7 or 8 rounds. I think the styles mesh well. Now, I really don't care who Davis fights. Loma would be his hardest and best name challenge. We'll see how Gervonta performs tomorrow tho. Who you picking?

Everyone claims that his belt is fake when it’s the “Franchise” designation that’s actually fake. It was literally created out of thin air so Lomachenko wouldn’t have to face Devin Haney.

That’s why Haney was elevated from interim champion to full champion by the WBC.

Then I hear people say that no one is interested in fighting Devin Haney, even guys like Ryan Garcia who have never won a world title.

Last but not least, I see people giving the other top guys a pass by saying that Tank,Teo, etc would destroy Haney anyway, yet none of those guys seem to share your confidence.
who are these guys who thought he would lose? Care to mention them?

Haney is good. Well balanced technically and could be better. But he is hyped to the gills. When you are hyped as something bigger than you actually are it could do you both good and harm, it comes with the territory. The results are entirely up to him.

Personally i thought he won clearly but it wasn’t as impressive as i’ve hoped it be. It wasn’t a master class given his advantages and they way they hyped him up — it should have been.

i like the way he fights, with a little bit power he’d be really really interesting. But as of now i don’t see him as anything special. If that was his first test then i was not impressed. Good win for him though, and i hope he proves me wrong next time.

I'm picking Davis to get a mid K/O once he figures out the timing of Pittball.
Tank against a come forward fighter with leaky defense is virtually a guaranteed knock out.
Just got to ask which round.

Best fight in the 135 division is still Tank/loma
That has the world's interest plus a great clash of styles .
I still have Loma winning that one.
Hoping it's done sooner than later.
LOMA/commey should be a good fight also.
