What are we judging them on? Money, official wins, unofficial results etc.

Official wins you have to say Ward. As a boxer I think GGG was a higher level while Ward benefitted greatly from his circumstances.

Unofficial performances, I saw GGG at a much higher level than Ward. Ward seemed to struggle with anyone decent and it turned into an ugly, mucked up fight which was really hard to score. GGG tended to clearly win almost every round against solid fighters.

I think GGG performed better to my eye in big fights as well. His only close fight was Dervy. Ward has quite a few 'well but what about' type scenarios and fights.

Money wise, GGG had a better career.

Respect wise? Depends on who you ask, greatly.

Serious question - why did he have all his fights in his backyard in that tourney considering he was really unknown? That Kessler fight in the first round in Oakand is especially odd to me. Why wouldn't that be in the champ's backyard.

I’d say Ward. It’s close in fairness.

I got 8/1 on Ward to win the Super Six. Him and Froch were the two outsiders and ended up in the final.

Good points, although I don't think golovkin was necessarily a higher level boxer. As you say, depends who you ask but it's all debatable except for the $$$.

However, despite saying "anyone 154-168", Golovkin went quiet when Ward became interested.

I just saw GGG as a very technically sound boxer who could pile up points with the jab. Ward to me was a smart tough fighter but I never really saw great skills from him in the ring when I watched. Everything turned into a brawl, wrestling around and very physical.

Honestly the whole Ward-GGG fight thing is tired to me. Initially it seems like HBO wanted them to fight, and I think Ward wasn't really active or healthy enough and declined.

Then, when GGG became a bigger name, I think Ward knew the fight had passed at that time, but he wanted to get a little buzz from sending in an offer around the Lemieux fight (when GGG was due to face Cotto/Canelo winner next).

If Ward was traveling around all the time and fighting guys in neutral sites or away, I would take any offer or talk from him more seriously.

He seems like a decent guy, and was a tough smart fighter. I will always say that about him. But yeah I think he was a bit full of sh.it with a lot of what he said, and I just never really saw a lot of high level skills from him. I think always fighting at home really benefitted his career/record.

I love Ward because he’s a California guy, but I enjoyed watching Triple Flop fight way more. He was way more enjoyable.

Ward and it is not even close. Cleaned out his division, went up in weight and beat the bogeyman there twice.

GGG. He beat Canelo and was more exciting to watch. Andre Ward crawls in the ring and shoves his head down your crotch.

Ward clearly - though as a fighter I liked GGG much better, because of the in part spectacular KOs and for not being a dirty headbutting low-blowing guy like Ward.
