But if Ward takes an L, does he continue fighting to this day? To take an L and win. While GGG takes a W over Canelo. Does GGG move up and Ward meet him in the middle?

A lot of things potentially change with that timeline so to speak.
Commonly accepted tbh. Like Pac Bradley, RJJ at the olympics and a few of Broner’s “wins” earlier in his career.

I think GGGs career would have played out the same. If he wins a close by clear decision vs Canelo there would be a rematch, and the judges would 100% have robbed him that time then 3rd fight which Canelo would likely have won. Ward would have fought Kova again in a 50/50 fight

From my experience I discount the alphabet soup... there are no multiple champs, there is your division, how well do you house clean your division? An aspect of greatness often overlooked is "dominance." Ward shines in this department. For argument's sake, assume he got a gift against Kovalev the first time... and I cannot think of another such gift Ward got... Ward still dominated his division, cleaned it out. And he did so not by winning close decisions, he did it like Mayweather and Jones did it at their best weights... except Ward did it all the way up the ladder.

Ill say this for triple G, if Canelo is that great and he had two competative fights with him, (I don't care about judges), then its a legitimate question to ask if Ward fought anyone that good. Froch was excellent, Kovalev was still a terror... With that said Ward was dominant against high quality opposition. The tourney he won was awash with hard punchers, tough chins, etc... Given Froch's level, im not convinced that Ward might have made Canelo look ordinary.

It always amazes me the way people talk up Wards super six win. He headbutted. Kessler to a stoppage. He fought Hall of famer Allen Green. Decisioned an already robbed once blown up middleweight in Arthur Abraham. Took a forfeit from Andre Dirrel who already had quit once and withdrew with injury because he didn't want to fight his "friend". Finally beat a guy (Froch)who had lost to Kessler ( who Ward had already beaten)...barely sc****d by the quitter....and couldn't stop the blown up middleweight. Great wins in a great tournament. Learn boxing fellas.

GGG got robbed blind in the first fight? Most people agreed that Canelo won the first 3 and last 3 rounds. That's easily a draw.

114-113 for Ward is not a robbery either. Many felt that Kovalev gassed in the 2nd half of the fight and Ward winning a round from the first half isn't impossible either.

Getting robbed blind is Lewis vs Holyfield 1. Lara vs Williams, etc.

Oakland is a short hop of a flight from Las Vegas. It has a major Airport there are hotels...it's a good as Vegas, the coliseum rocks... there isn't really a home team in boxing.

The 2 Canelo robberies over GGG don't even really bother me - they were expected.

Ward over Kovalev in fight 1 - I mean he got dominated for half of the fight, and then the last 6 rounds were close. It was closer to 9-3 Kov than 7-5 Kov. No way in hell was it 7-5 Ward.

If you felt Ward swept those last 6 rounds, you're basically saying he should have won 11-1 or 12-0 if the whole fight played out that way. It's insane

I thought the last 6 rounds were close. And so were the first 6 rounds. Kovalev vs Ward was a REALLY close fight imo. Kovalev only landed 10 more punches (unofficially).
