He’s moved on to greater and better things. The fight happened at the only time it could’ve happened.
Yeah it’s ridiculous for anyone to say Floyd was at his peak at 36

to be honest, If were talking about physical peak, it could be even before he got to 147, before his hands were shot etc,

but I think his last fight looking like a youngish fighter was around 2009 v Marquez, or maybe around 2007 before he had a “retirement”.

From 2010 onwards, he was clearly an older fighter, not worn in obviously. His legs were just a fraction slower and not quite the same spring, but still better than most. He would often spend longer amounts of time fighting flat footed, taking rests in rounds etc in the last 4-5 years of his career. His ring IQ was unmatched, so he was still great but physically there’s a clear difference between Floyd around 2009 and Floyd in 2013, in terms of his legs especially.

The very good older guy made the much younger inexperienced guy lose too much weight too.

Prime for Prime canelo hurts him and has proven to be the greater of the two.

Floyd final phase from Guerrero onwards as TBE

He began to use the jab more as his reflexes slowed

$ May was this potshot artist who didn’t always head jab

Rematches don’t always end the same most the time it’s why rematches happen . People on here said AJ was done after the first Ruiz fight , Many said Whyte was done after his knockout to Povetkin and even asked why Whyte was still favored to win the second fight , if a 3 fight sequence takes place it’s almost unlikely the same results will happen ,only Fury has done that which is defeat the same guy 3 times and he was knocked down multiple times so it’s hardly a foregone conclusion that if they fought more that Wilder couldn’t win ,he would at a certain point .

Obviously boxing doesn’t work like that usually you get two fights and no more between rivals .

I think the reality is that the catchweight Floyd ensured had a huge effect. Canelo is clearly a huge guy who even at that time should've probably looked to go 160, not 152.

But, he signed the fight and lost. That's his problem.

Floyd legacy is legit, he was amazing. But as a boxing fan, it is sad that we will never know if he would've beaten Canelo at 154, or if he would've beaten Manny 5 years earlier, or Margarito when he was a beast etc.

He was a calculated man and knew how to win, in and out the ring... But it leaves some people with question marks about his true greatness.

Dominated a kid is correct, there’s no evidence a fight between them gets easier for Floyd which is my point . You can see dominating performances that ended differently throughout boxing history . I think a few rematches with Floyd is risky which is why he rarely took them or did he ? I’m not even sure off hand .

Floyd always seemed in a rush to retire. Maybe wait for Nell to show he wasn't a hy p.ejob. Because after Nell lost to floyd the jury was out, but Nell was young and all great fighters great wins come later in career, the first phase of career is usually gaining experience. So we were harsh in doubting nelo! After Nelo got a few wins after floyd loss, then floyd could rematch nelo.
why can't floyd fight Nell when Floyd's 40 years old?
