Floyd a different level of fighter

he would give boxing lessons to other greats and make hall of famers look silly

Alvarez usually gets decisions that could go either way when facing very good opponents

Canelo is still naturally a boxer-puncher. He’s very selective with his approach when he’s pressing the attack, he doesn’t throw unorthodox wild punches and doesn’t maul his opponent like Maidana, etc. He would fight more aggressive now, but that would leave him more open for Floyd to land punches. If you give Floyd any space to anticipate and react, then you might as well add a UD loss on your record before you even step in the ring with him. Canelo is a very smart boxer, but all the things that make him great would be nullify by Floyd.

there was no better time..it happened at the only time it could happen...Canelo learned and grew from the experience

It wasn’t to do with the timing so much. In fact he might have fared better a year or so sooner. When the fight finally did happen he was already a full fledged middleweight trying to fit where he didn’t belong anymore.

What a lot fans fail to see to this day is that they only see Floyd as a defensive boxer. They don’t see that everything he did in the ring flows all in one motion which made it very difficult for opponents to get their rhythm going against him. Yeah, you can try to
shoulder roll like him and just shell up the whole time, you can try to jab to the body and head, etc, but to be able to defend, counter, and mix his attack all while never being out of position is what sets him apart. He flows like water in the ring, nothing he did was wasteful.

Canelo has definitely improved since his fight against mayweather but it’s unfair to say that Floyd deliberately got him when he was too inexperienced. Canelo was 23 and mayweather was 36 I believe. Floyd was no spring chicken and people have been saying before that fight that he lost his legs in the mosley fight.

to the people that like to discredit floyds win over Canelo what would be the appropriate time for that fight to take place?
              - -On their historical timelines of development, 23 year old Canelo was well ahead of 23 year old Floydy, who of course wouldn't stand a chance against 36 year old TUE Vegas Floydy with all the judges, ref, and commish in his pocket.

So as to Canelo at 23 vs 36 Floydy, Canelo was physically ready, but his promoter, Oscar, melted the day before the match and hauled off incommunicado to a detox center, so he couldn't protect Canelo from Bayless who put Canelo in a straight jacket anytime he started to get on top much like refs used to do for hometown Sven Ottke.

Now keep in mind Canelo didn't invent 155lb Caneloweight, Cotto did to drain him down for his middleweight title that Canelo won. Canelo made it into his own weight on the chance Floydy would want to rematch sugared with the middlewt title, but Floydy knew he'd get beat up by then and that his best hope was playing out his zer0 until cashing out with Bayless at 147 vs Manny.

What else you need to know?

It’s very discouraging to haunt down your opponent while he’s constantly disrupting any tactics you use against him. Frustration will sets in no matter what.

A close comparison before their respective fights is Teofimo Lopez VS Lomachenko. A young inexperienced fighter with a size advantage going up against a sure fire hall of fame and the pound for pound best. This was even worse actually as Teo was less experienced than Canelo and Loma was younger/fresher than Floyd. Difference was that Teo showed up to conquer while Canelo fought like he was in awe of Floyd instead of bringing the fire to him.

Canelo has never made any excuses for that loss and has grown into the fighter he is today from it. Not sure why his rabid fans can’t accept it like he has.

Wasn’t surprising Alvarez fought Floyd with admiration

young Alvarez experimented with many of Floyd’s moves from the shoulder roll down to the pullcounter
