I don't really have a huge opinion on Floyd (or most fighters) either way. I just analyze stuff as it comes in.

He was a great boxer, and an even better boxer-businessman. He was never going to please everyone anyway, so why not just make the most money you can?

No Duran had several fights at welterweight before he fought Sugar. He was fully acclimated to the weight. Thats why he performed the way that he did.

Now if a bona-fide top 10 all time great knew the importance of getting acclimated to a higher weight class, what makes you think a lessor fighter in Marquez is going to make any waves.

how in the hell is a 36 year old fighting at a higher weight closer to his best version then a 23 year old unified/ring champ? keep your insults and tell me as a grown man how?? you must hold Floyd to such a high standard

No I said I can't remember Oscar or Sugar Ray using the excuse of saying a fighter had a country behind him to pull him up two divisions.

Big fight experience - big edge to Floyd. Just like Canelo now has a huge edge vs anyone he fights generally in this category.

Fight experience overall - good edge to Floyd. Floyd at his age knew the right gameplan against Canelo. Canelo had a poor gameplan vs Floyd.

Weight - good edge to Floyd. Floyd was a lot more comfortable fighting a couple pounds under the limit, compared to Canelo.

Age - mixed bag. You could argue the 23 year old man is a better bet vs a 36 year old man, with the youth factor. Or you could argue the 36 year old has the edge due to experience. As it played out, I think Canelo's youth hurt him and Floyd's experience aided him.

                    Exactly when it happened.

Canelo hasnt changed much in the big picture. His style is still the same. He's still a box-puncher.

Without fightinf Floyd when he did, Canelo isnt what he is now. A much smarter boxer in his punch selection. More of a thinker as he fights.

Cause it wasnt until Floyd that Canelo changed his ways from bullying opponents out of the ring.

Any later and its just an older Floyd fighting a more set in his ways Canelo.

so Canelo fought Floyd exactly at the right time.

in his prime against a little past it Foyd Mayweather.
