Here are a few facts. Shields batters that Mexican for every second of every round in a boxing ring. This fight was close, Shields lost, but took little to no damage. Shields has no MMA game at all, much less than a lot of boxers will have. Shields is fast and agile, but she is far from a single shot puncher. She did rock the Mexican twice, but you will have seen on 3-4 occasions the Mexican was willing to take a punch as Shields got close, so she could grab her. MMA fighters would not be able to risk this if the puncher was someone like Canelo, or Golovkin a few years back or Tyson Fury, or Deontay Wilder, or Bieterbiev, etc. Guys like this with tiny MMA gloves could take off heads with one shot. Shields is not, and never has been a puncher. 2 KO's in her boxing career. She is one of the last top level boxers that I'd pick to excel at MMA. She was atrocious in her last MMA fight, so I'm a little puzzled by some people being surprised by this loss. I watched it out of intrigue, the same reason I watch the likes of Jake Paul box. Nash out.

Lol once again your comparing MMA guys vs MMA guys to MMA guys vs boxers. An MMA guy can force another MMA guy into punching range, yes, in fact they'll willingly do it themselves. Against a boxer they're not gonna play that. Look at the gif for ****s sake, look where his head is, thats a basic double leg, its designed and drilled for the specific reason of getting under strikes and making it extremely difficult to counter. But you think a guy that has no experience with it whatsoever is going to be able to deal with it because of a 25lb weight advantage.

Btw do you think a pure wrestler could beat a pure boxer in a boxing match just because hes 25lbs heavier? that would essentially be the same thing as what you're claiming.

Well yeah obviously. Think Covington has much of a chance in the rematch?

Not really Im comparing a prime MW killer against an old shot way smaller MMA guy, Id say there are lot of boxing greats that would eat such a smaller guy for breakfast.

I cannot envision a way smaller old guy stopping a great prime boxer from punching them, no matter what happens at some split-second point they can land, and from then on its over. this is not a Bruce Lee movie Canelo is a real killer.

Anyway Im done for the night, and I really like MMA as well.

They are training to take somebody down in a sport where the other person can punch them AND knee them as they shoot in AND knows how to defend a takedown properly. Yes, boxers are much better with their hands than MMA fighters, but not to the extent where those entire concepts suddenly dont work anymore. Like can you imagine how ****ing small the window is to land a fight ending punch in that situation? they're shooting in from outside of punching range, then their head is at hip level for a few milliseconds, then they're at your legs. I'm not saying its impossible, its has actually been done before, but it is EXTREMELY low percentage. You could never enter a fight relying on that one gameplan.

Once they've actually closed distance, if its a double/single leg takedown its going to bypass a lot of your weight advantage. Your balance will be compromised, you might be on one leg, if you try to do something they have a bunch of adjustments they can make based on where your weight is going. They are trained to react to where you put your weight and use your own weight and momentum against you in a split second in a way that boxers arent. 25lbs is only gonna change things if someone actually has a decent degree of grappling knowledge themselves so they can use the weight and strength properly.

If we were talking putting a 5'8 150lb BJJ black belt against a 6'5 250lb NFL linebacker? different story. That would be like putting a bear against a regular human. Canelo vs someone 25lbs lighter (thats only like 2 weight classes down in MMA terms) is not the same.

              Laters.

Doubt it. Usman seems to have gotten even better while Colby has mostly sat at home talking ****. I have a feeling Colby will attempt to wrestle this time.
