Was RJJ really as great as hes made out to be?(if Calzaghe beat him why does everyone make him sound unbeatable at smw?)

He fell off a cliff after reaching Crawfords age,but when you really look at his record you don't see a whole lot of atg wins?(can anyone list why he's rated so highly?Or list which wins that collectively make him atg?) Thoughts?

Forgot to mention I ask because I used to constantly hear how he would batter Canelo/Ward(before he became a killer at smw) but I'm starting to question that greatly

I will say 1 thing though he was a dazzling showman that made himself look unbeatable at times,but I remember when he used to get tons of sht for his resume while being p4p king at the time (like Crawford)

Exactly what I mean? What I mean is all the top Americans were pedded to the gills and they had the American drug testing ppl ready to cover it all up.

Kinda like Dillian Whyte? Look at BJS & how he would've been considered a clean fighter had he been under Ukad,look at Valdez who would've been considered clean had he been under Ukad. Don't those current cases prove that current Ukad is guilty of the same thing?(& If so what should that tell you about prior era fighters?)

I know this is hard for a lot Canelo (and Floyd) fans to understand, but the form of a fighter at the tail end of their career is not the same usually as when that fighter is in his prime and at his best weight.

RJJ was incredibly dominant at MW and LHW, before moving up to take a HW belt off of John Ruiz. It is generally agreed that the move to HW forever changed him and he was not the same fast fluid explosive fighter when he returned to LHW. His punch resistance and speed were just not there any more.

Calzaghe didn't beat him at SMW to start.

Secondly, Calzaghe beat him in 2008, a time when Roy Jones hadn't beaten a ranked fighter in 5 years and never did again.

So why would that hold any relevance?

Calzaghe beat him when Roy wasn't even in his prime anymore. Calzaghe's fought domestic level fights his whole career and then fought 2 old men at the very end.......and now everyone considers him a legend. It's laughable.
