Just 2 weeks after Jake/Woodley we are about to see 48 year old Oscar come out of retirement to box, you guessed it, an MMA fighter, with a co-main featuring two MMA fighters boxing each other. In the midst of this actual serious boxing PPVs involving supposed top current boxing stars like Spence, Tank and the Charlos do comparable numbers to the worst performing UFC PPVs in their 12-13 PPV per year schedule.

The guy you're (hopefully jokingly) calling the face of boxing has never fought a boxer, turns up at UFC events, only boxes MMA fighters and doesnt shut up about Dana and MMA because thats where his heart is at really. ESPN now shows the UFC, prioritizes it over boxing, has Max Kellerman talking about it. Teddy Atlas talks about MMA as much as boxing. Some small developer is about to release the first major boxing game in a ****ing decade because EA ie the foremost publisher of sports games dropped boxing and started making UFC games instead. Youtube views and social media numbers are all strongly in favour of MMA. Conor is indisputably the biggest combat sports star since Floyd retired from serious boxing, Conor/Khabib was (excluding Floyd/Conor ie a novelty fight) the biggest fight in combat sports since Floyd/Pac, doing more PPV buys than Fury/Wilder 1+2 combined, and around as many as both Canelo/GGG fights combined. Canelo, the biggest draw in boxing, had one of his fights delayed for 45 mins so they could show a UFC main event on the arenas big screens.

How much more evidence do you ****ing need? to put it in perspective, just contrast it with say 15 years ago, if I wanted to make the case MMA was bigger back then, what evidence would I have had to back up the argument compared to today? thats a clear indication of where the momentum has been going since then.
Like I told you before, boxing always bounces back

A few thin years doesn't mean its being overtaken

If this trends continues for let's say ten years, then I'll worry

Its been 6 already, and i'm just talking years where its absolutely clear. It was around 07/08 where the UFC became a more consistent PPV draw, but Floyd and Pac blowing up around the same time made it less obvious.

Boxing wont die, and there will always a fight every now and then that attracts attention, but its never gonna get that ground back, and will probably lose more. Unlike the 90s/00s MMA now has full mainstream media acceptance, and is every bit as visible as boxing, if not more so. And in a situation where a potential new combat sport fan is completely aware of both sports and has easy access to both, they tune in to both for a few weeks to see what all the fuss is about, lets be honest, which is more likely to win them over? which are you more likely to see a short 10 second clip of on TikTok or whatever and go "holy **** thats crazy, i'm checking that out"?
