By competitive I mean, yea he kept walking onto the straight left, and he was clearly beaten, I'm not denying that but usyk hit him with his best punches and Joyce kept coming as he usually does, and Joyce still had his moments, in the second round he knocked usyk halfway across the ring and he kept hitting him with the jab in all 5 rounds and all this having only taken up boxing a few years earlier, against an Olympic champion who had bout 400 amateur bouts at that point, Joyce has undoubtedly improved since then, maybe not to the point that he would gain revenge in the pro ranks but to a point where over 12 rounds he would give a very good account of himself, so why would usyk take that fight before Joshua? It makes little to no sense

The fight was ordered way back in February, that’s about 4 months before AJ was even on the table due to Fury negotiations with A.J . He preferred the AJ fight but had plenty of time to fight Joyce in the meantime,it’s now scheduled next month that’s an 8 month span to when the AJ fight is actually happening to turning down the Joyce one . He was able to schedule a Chisora fight not a Joyce one in the meantime .
Had he fought Joyce he had plenty of time to still have the date for undisputed in September , his actions show he’s not to keen on that Joyce fight ,don’t blame him with the Undisputed at stake but what Sam Jones said was true .Last edited by REDEEMER; 08-29-2021, 03:07 AM.Comment

I like Sam Jones but he's New to this game and his inexperience is showing in his comments here. Firstly, Usyk was never gonna make the Joyce fight until the Joshua vs Fury deal was 100 done. That didn't happen so Usyk was justified. A shot at the guy with most of the prizes and the biggest paycheck possible vs no prize and a significantly lower paycheck. You do the math Sam. Secondly he seems to think that after the first Fury fight the WBO belt will become vacant. That was the case before when Usyk was being pushed aside, but with Usyk out the way that won't apply and the new undisputed champ will be able to hold onto the belt. So there'd be a second Fury fight and not to mention the other bodies mandatories first as there's a rotational system. So Joyce has got a couple of years and maybe 5 or 6 fights to wait through before he gets his shot via mandatory. But I like Sam and he'll learn.Comment

Your right that is a quicker route. But Sam seems to think that with Usyk gone and the Undisputed fight gone it'll be Joe next. Because he seems to think that the belt will have to be vacated if a AJ vs Fury rematch is done. That was the case when Usyk was pushed aside but with his mandatory cleared the other bodies will get the shot before Joe. Sam either doesn't realize this as he's New to the game, or Warren is filling his head with BS.Comment

It makes no sense because Joe isn't a champion and he's not the biggest paycheck in the division. Their amateur fight has got absolutely no bearing in this lol. This is just a poor attempt at trying to make Joyce look like the more dangerous fight over an AJ fight. Like I said , a poor attempt.

I see what your trying to say here, but let's not forget 3 things in that. Firstly, Usyk was co-promoted by Matchroom and and Joyce with Queensberry and they don't do buisness. Secondly there is no way Warren would have risked Joyce's position against Usyk without something significant on the line. Like a title shot. So that fight was not a realistic option until it was ordered by the WBO so that AJ and Fury could fight. Even then Usyk is never gonna sign until that fight was 100% done as he'd then be committed to Joyce and not get an AJ fight. Joyce was always plan B. I can't see why Sam would be surprised at this lol. And thirdly when Usyk fought Chisora, Joyce was scheduled to fight Dubois which was in-house for them. So it was a no go back then. The fight was ordered way back in February, that’s about 4 months before AJ was even on the table due to Fury negotiations with A.J .
