Again, watch the fights, there is a thread in history with his fight against Lyle, first fight... Watch the action inside... Just for your own edification, don't even need to "win" anything. Learn something.

He fought in what is considered by many the most competitive heavyweight division in history, he could do more things than most fighters in the ring... and one of the three top fighters today is a one punch guy who weighs about the average size for a heavyweight on the larger side during those times, yet because of size guys would get splattered?

Spinks was a tremendous fighter as well BTW.

If Young used those tactics against today’s giants he gets squashed . What am I learning ? A little guy who can’t punch isn’t going to do anything against super heavyweight fighters today. He would be a Cruiserweight today and lose to guys like Usyk, Breidas and Gassiev demolishes him . Neither three of those guys are going to be champions in the division now .

Well tactics change when a fighter has a toolbox with many tools. If you watch the first Lyle fight Young used something that Don Turner taught a version of to Holyfield: Instead of backing off of the big puncher, inside fighter, stay inside and when he tries to set, push towards his triangulation point... if you stand with your legs spread equidistant, in front and in back of you, because we do not have a third leg, you have no balance. When Holy fought Tyson he would push into Tyson and push back on this point when Tyson set...Young did this to Lyle.

Young used a totally different tactic against Foreman. He stayed to the outside threw combos in spurts, and boxed magnificently. What you are learning is not just about Young, but the use and application of technical skills. When recognized, one can see how great fighters use them, subtlety use them... One can see that many fighters today, use a limited Army style that does not create a big toolbox. Fighters seldom fight inside, use varieties of punches, use subtlety ruses like on off center fighting alignment, etc. There are exceptions. James Toney, Bernard Hopkins and even Tyson Fury are examples of throwback fighters who have a vast variety of skills they use in the ring.

Size has little to do with it... The biggest punchers in boxing history are not guys like Valuev, but guys who are usually under 240. Wilder weighs about as much as a little above average for the mean of a heavyweight champion from around 1940 and on...

Young is an example of what I am talking about, not the only guy. A fighter like Usyk has more in common with a fighter like Young... and keep in mind that many had a chance to demolish Young who were considered very strong and able... none did. Most people think he beat Norton and Ali as well. But hey... if you have a low opinion of Young, so be it. Just hope you take a good look at tape of any fighter, to understand what ability they actually have.

Shizzle! Meant to say "Ammy" as in "amateur" style not Army!

Silly Billy agrees with you ,but the rest of the forum knows Ortiz resume is terrible. Anyone defending it has a mental handicap.

You wish half wit lol. You desperately are trying to get any consensus. Truth is there may be some more people who think Ortiz is terrible, or not... It hardly matters because your trying to seek approval, NOT the truth. Thats obvious from this post. Some of us are more interested in the truth. And what really hurts you is posters respect each other and are not demeaning when they disagree. You want people to be at each other's throats, that is what you try to accomplish.

You are your own worse enemy lol. Your hair brain opinions are proved wrong consistently, then you cry salty tears..."wah wah... I want Silly Billy off the forum... where are the mods wah way" Lol. You have been in crisis since your last hair brained prediction was dead wrong... You cry to the mods constantly then accuse others of snitching... It isn't working.

Try another tact and act like an adult. Its never too late you know. Maybe Shoulder Roll will even give you your soul back Bwahhhaaaaa!!!!!
