Whether it's a tear or a detachment. Spence should fight after a year at least.

A tear should be at least a year.

A detached retina 2-3 years minimum,

So if he fights in 2 months. Then we know it's a fake out.

If he tears his retina again then they would just have to surgically repair it again; No big deal. Erroll Spence should be just fine.

That's not true at all. A tear doesn't mean he is out for a year. Either way, he's not returning in two months...At the earliest in December but likely in 2022.

That's what BH and most of us are thinking..

They were hiding this part because it will bring down Spence Stocks..

It makes sense.. It wasn't just a tear.. It was a major issue, a Retinal Detachment. It's Career ending..
Not if it was caught early.

Retinal Detachment is definitely Career ending..

This is why they were hiding it from coming out.

But the pressure of boxing fans made them release this sad news..

Now we know.. Spence can't play no more..

Still we don't know when this detachment truly happened.. My bet is it happened during the car crash.. was aggravated when he fought too soon with DSG.. (irresponsible of him)

Didn't realize he had a detached Retina, signed a deal with Pacquiao..

Thus, I still believe this was uncalled for, and very unprofessional of Spence and his team to know the importance of taking care of his health. He neglected having his eyes checked up. This would have been avoided.. It's a major let to the boxing community that hoped for his fight with Pacquiao to happen.. Instead, it turned into a mirage.
Then you should tell that to Sugar Ray Leonard who has had at least two detached retinas in his boxing career and added 15 more years onto his boxing career with them.

                Now you're getting it..

It was juvenile of him to throw this all away..

                what a waste..

He's like Penny Hardaway or Grant Hill. Had all the talent, but didn't take care of their health and slowly drifted away in the NBA..

Greatness is staying focused in the prize.

MJ didn't earn that status if he didn't take care of his health and was not disciplined enough to stay away from distractions like alcoholism.

Took Srl 3 years to get back.

Came back and won his first fight but got Knocked down.

And after the fight he told the press he'll retire again..

SRL may have comeback, but his best days are gone..

Even if Spence miraculously heal early..

Spence will always have that PTSD syndrome. That fear to get blinded if he gets hit hard. That will mess up his game.. every time he steps in the ring. He'll lose the edge.

Same as formula one drivers. Once they tasted a freak car crash and survives a near death experience.. Their race game changes. They become a different driver.. More cautious.. Which translated to losing that killer instinct or mental edge to push their car to the limit.. Remember what separates the men from the boys is that tiny edge that makes them special.

Boxing is 90% a mental game.. Having that history of a detached retina.. will mess you up.. No one wants to blind. I'd rather lose an arm or a leg than to be blind. Not worth it.

Feel bad for Spence and wish him a speedy recovery. It seems the reason he may not have shown proof earlier was because he was actually down playing the injury in order to make a comeback seem more likely.
