Campbell retired because he regrets having caused Ryan Garcia's mental breakdown with that punch.

UK fighters seemingly can't wait to retire.
It's almost like they have one foot out the door since day 1.Comment

Its only so much time you can spend with your family. I never understand why fighters retire citing that reason especially in this day and age where you only fight once a year. Unless you are retiring becos you have nothing else to give the sport or you are over the grind of it, the itch to come back will always return and then you lack the awareness that you are too old at that point. Well good luck to him though.Comment

Not sure whether you are from the UK or not but Campbell lives in Hull and trains with Shane McGuigan in Kent which is around 300 miles away. Assuming he has 2 fights a year and 3 month training camps, that’s 6 months away from his family and his kids have probably changed so much in that time. Its only so much time you can spend with your family. I wish he’d have won against better boxers, he lost to Linares, Lomachenko and Garcia but doesn’t have a good win on his record. Just fell short at the top level but fought the best!

I can't respect a fighter who couldn't even win one of these crooked dime a dozen belts, with zero meaningful wins at the world level. As another poster said, good riddance. I'm sure he's an A list and massive in the UK.

This weak fighter getting praise for doing absolutely nothing special as a pro in the same era where a fighter like Tank is getting hate. interestingComment

I fully agree. That's exactly how I see it. I am British and in the UK, but I watch boxing worldwide with no bias, and yes, he is wildly overrated here. The fact is, the best thing he ever did as a pro is beat Tommy Coyle. And if you are thinking Tommy Who? You'd be right. I respect your knowledge BoxingIsGreat. You're a helluva poster. Nash out.Comment
