Capitalise it all you want, it doesn't make it more correct.

Amateur boxing is a sport. Professional boxing is prizefighting and entertainment first and a sport second. What kind of sport allows you to choose your own opponents?

While I respect the competitors, I couldn't care less about plenty of Olympic sports. They're either competing in sports no-one cares about for four years (that's most of them) or they're in a competition that isn't the pinnacle of the sport (eg golf, football, tennis).

Boxing is the exception. It is the pinnacle of boxing as a sport. Beyond the amateurs it's no longer a genuine sport, it's a job.

Luke Campbell achieved the pinnacle of the sport, and then made money as a pro. Well done Luke.

Campbell couldn't even win a fake belt, let alone be the best in a class, despite Hearn positioning him for undeserved title shots. Even Rolly has a dime belt. I've a strong opinion about Commey's level, which is why I'm staying away from that Loma thread. I don't wanna piss off Loma fans all over again.

I know, right. What is this clown talking about? Audley Harrison the best in class! Luke Campbell the best in class! We have seen in the pros, that they are nowhere near that. I'd knock Audley Glass Harrison out FFS. Nash out.

You and your mate can carry on blowing each other. Nash out. Boxingisgreat out. Sounds like you're both out. Good for you.

Both Harrison and Campbell won gold medals. They've done that.

Audley turned pro at 30 and made money. Did his job and got paid.

I get the feeling it never really clicked for him as a pro, Campbell was very good technically but he was what I’d describe as a point scorer in the amateurs. It’s usually difficult to adapt that style to pros. A solid pro career but definitely fell short of expectations, unfortunately never won a World title and also a shame he never picked up a British or European title as a pro and I blame that on the matchmaking. Overall though, definitely an over-achiever IMO and he’ll go down as one of our greatest amateur’s.

            Enjoy retirement.
Yeah I agree. He just didn’t have quite enough stopping power, but technically points scoring he was well made for the amateurs. Good time to retire, he wasn’t going to suddenly shake up the division and big pay days drying up.

Looks like the wifey laid down the law, threatened to leave him for going back on his past promises… He’ll be back in 18months.

There was no denying Audley Harrison's technical ability, he was a better heavyweight technically then 95% of the fighters active today.

It is clear he had some issue's in the latter part of his career, but really? He only suffered bad losses at the end of his career.

Wilder, Price, Haye 'That is it'.

He avenge his loss to Michael Sprott and obliterated Danny Williams.

                  European Champion 'European Boxing Champion'.

Do you know any European Boxing Champion's personally? The man still achieve something as a professional.

And I will keep tracking back to the Olympics 'A Olympic Title is worth more than most of these professional world titles'.

The stage is bigger, and it is pure competition.

I can bet you Audley Harrison is more content with his career than somebody Kevin Mitchell.

Sometimes fighters who do not achieve the pinnacle in the amateurs, and also the professional ranks 'Have a harder time when they leave the game'.

Note: Kevin Mitchell had a great career, a similar professional career to Luke Campbell 'But he did not win a world title, or a Olympic title'.

Fed to the wolves? He faced lomachenko and Garcia, narrowly losing out both times through a huge body shot from Garcia and very bias judges against lomachenko... Don't get me wrong he lost the fight fair and square with lomachenko but he gave a very good account of himself and it would have been a lil closer on the cards if the judges weren't mesmerized by lomachenko before the fight even started. Add to that a very tough to take split decision against a still prime Linares and he can be very proud of what he achieved in the sport, I'm kinda sad he's calling it quits tbh cos I felt he would become champion one day if he just kept going but I understand his decision
