      He is not Great Britain's most successful amateur.

      But? His Olympic Gold Medal is worth more than most boxing world titles knocking about today.

      I think he has had a great career 'There where no lesser champions about for him to weasel his way into winning a world title'.

      Solid career.

        These days high ranking boxers only fight once or twice a year. Still plenty of time for the family. I think he just doesn't want to get fed to the wolves.

          Successful, confident people don't overcompensate on internet forums by declaring they are legends and "a helluva poster." Moreover, successful people who have achieved difficult things don't deride other high acheivers.

            Not every successful person is the same. I don't take myself too seriously, and I never will, if that offends or annoys people, I could not care less. I do things my way. People who are very serious all the time are not for me. Nash out.

              Luke had a great career, evidently left his best days in the amateurs but has an Olympic Gold, European Gold and World Silver to show for it. I get the feeling it never really clicked for him as a pro, Campbell was very good technically but he was what I’d describe as a point scorer in the amateurs. It’s usually difficult to adapt that style to pros. A solid pro career but definitely fell short of expectations, unfortunately never won a World title and also a shame he never picked up a British or European title as a pro and I blame that on the matchmaking. Overall though, definitely an over-achiever IMO and he’ll go down as one of our greatest amateur’s.

                    Man, tough crowd out here. Enjoy retirement - a good career, a family worth quitting for, and having our sensibilities and youth is more than any of us could ever hope or ask for. More power to you, Luke Campbell

                      Good for Campbell, sometimes a fighter has to realize that they don't have it in them anymore. Get out while you can! Family and health always come first.
